Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Franek of Needville spent several days here last week visiting relatives and friends here and son, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Franek, and children of Harlingen who were also visiting relatives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dolezal and son, Fred, spent Christmas day in El Campo visiting their daughter, Mr. and Mrs., O. Kopecky and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla and children spent Saturday and Sunday in Granger visiting his parents Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Sralla.

Mrs. A. M. Slaydon returned home with Mr. Slaydon Christmas day after spending several days in the home of her sister, Mr. and Mrs. A. Granger, and mother, Mrs. Reeves, in Baytown.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malcik motored to Richmond Tuesday morning to visit Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Clay and son, Wayne, and to accompany them to Longview to spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Reed Oliver and Wallace Reed.

Miss Charlotte Schattel became the bride of Gene Bonelli in Cincinnati, Ohio, Saturday, Dec. 28. Congratulations and best wishes to the newly wedded couple.

Mr. and Mrs. Pat Bosak spent last weekend in Rosenberg, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Krcha and family.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Damborsky and family of Maplewood, Louisiana spent Christmas here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Damborsky.

John Chlastak was able to return home from the hospital last, Saturday. We certainly hope he will continue to feel fine.

Reports from August Sacky Jr., a patient in the Mauritz Memorial Hospital, are that he is improving and expects to be home in a few days. We certainly wish him a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Lad Dusek and family spent Christmas day in La Grange, the guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Duşek.

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Leissner and Madlyn left early Tuesday morning for Georgia to attend the wedding of Miss Elaine Tucker and Jakie Leissner Jr. on Saturday, Dec. 28. Congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds.

Mr. and Mrs. Pat Bosak spent Christmas in Kingsville, the guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gerik and daughters. Granddaughters, Peggy and Linda, accompanied them home to spend a part of their holiday vacation here.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ivicic spent Christmas with relatives in Taylor. Mr. and Mrs., A. J. Gerik and daughter, Miss Mary Ann and Mr. and Mrs. A. Berger of West spent Christmas here with other daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sembera and Judy, Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Elles and son, Jimmy, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Franek and children of Harlingen.

Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sembera and girls spent Christmas day in Needville visiting her parents, Mr. and, Mrs. J. J. Dolezal.

Mrs. J. R. White has been on the sick list. Their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. White and daughters of Velasco have been visiting them spending Christmas here. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miles spent several days last week in Austin visiting relatives and transacting business.

Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz spent the holidays, in Victoria with her children and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gwosdz and family and Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Helwig and family.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schroeder of Cincinnati, Ohio, on the birth of a son, Michael Alan. The proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Schattel of our community.

Mrs. Jasper Venglar and children returned yesterday from several days visit with friends and relatives in Corpus Christi this past week.

Mr. and Mrs. Lud Dusek and family spent Sunday in LaGrange visiting with friends and relatives.

Misses Linda and Peggy Gerik, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Gerik of Kingsville spent Saturday and Sunday here visiting friends and relatives and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Bosak. They arrived and returned by train.

Signs of spring are here with mother nature spreading her blanket of green – a most welcome sign.

Mrs. J. J. Leissner and Mrs. Jerry Ivicic attended church meeting in Bay City one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malcik were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Kolar.

E. P. Sralla was on a business mission to temple lst week.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Slaydon and daughter, Denise, of Point Comfort spent Sunday afternoon visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Slaydon.

George Schattel attended the wedding of Senator Strauss’ daughter in Hallettsville last Sunday.

We wish to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reynolds and family to our community. They reside in one of the Oliver houses and are former residents of Lolita.

Ben Sembera is enjoying a new 1958 Oldsmobile.

Our community was saddened by the sudden passing of a former resident, Emil Buzek, last Wednesday night at his home in Palacios. Among those from our community to attend funeral services Friday morning in Palacios were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kusak, Mrs. Anna Kokes, Mrs. Liddie James, Mrs. R. L. Reininger, Mrs. Annie Matak, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Pecha, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Korenek and Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Volek. To the bereaved family, we extend our most sincere sympathy.

Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sembera and family of Rosenberg visited Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sembera and Judy, Sunday. Other visitors were Rev. Bartsch, Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Elles and Jimmy, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sembera and girls, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla and family, and Mrs. Jimmy Blair of Victoria. Also Mrs. Henry Kolar and Miss Sylvia and Mrs. Clarence Kolar.

We are certainly happy to have Mrs. J. R. White home again, and feeling fine as she has been a patient in the hospital at Glen Rose.

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Sembera of College Station have been visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ry Sembera and Mr. and Mrs. Dusek in Inez last weekend.

The barbecue chicken supper, games party and cake sale held at the hall for the benefit of the March of Dines netted $530.92. Thanks to everyone. We are proud of our little community and the good people who help it.

Agnes Zacek and Gertrude Sembera were complimented with a birthday party at the LaSalle Hall Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5. Many teenagers gathered at the appointed hours and spent a very enjoyable afternoon. Delicious refreshments were served after which the guests departed wishing the honorees many happy returns.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dolezal and son Fred spent last Sunday in El Campo visiting friends and relatives.

E. P. Sralla attended the funeral services for Mr. Frank Rod in El Campo last Monday morning.

Mrs. George Schattel returned home Tuesday after spending some two months in Cincinnati visiting her daughters Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Boneh and getting acquainted with little grandson, Michael Allen Schroeder.

Everyone had a pleasant surprise on arising Wednesday morning and waking up to a blanket of snow. Snow balls and snow men were in season and it was a great day for amateur photographers.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. White motored to Houston to be at the bedside of Mrs. White’s sister, Pearl Tharpe who suffered a stroke a few days ago. Enroute to Houston Saturday, the Whites were turkey dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Pittman Jr. in Wharton.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Oliver of Houston spent the weekend visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Voles.

Mr. and Mrs. August Kolar of Baton Rouge, Louisiana spent several days last week here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malcik. Before arriving, they had been visiting Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Grover in College Station and had attended the play MacBeth in which their daughter, Mrs. Grover played Lady MacBeth. They were showing pictures of Mrs. Grover in the more dramatic scenes.

Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Clingman visited Mrs. Francis Clingman last weekend. They were enroute to Louisiana to make their home there.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Gleinser and children of Victoria visited friends and relatives here last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gwosdz and children spent the weekend with his mother Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz.

The LaSalle Hall was the scene of a Surprise Party Saturday night. The occasion being Mrs. LaDelle Kolar and Mrs. Liddie James birthdays. A large number of friends came to wish them “Happy Birthday.”

Joe James of Luling transacted business and managed a little visiting here one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kolar are new residents of Victoria. We will miss them in our Community, but wish them well in their new location.

Mrs. Adolf Elles entertained with a quilting party one day last week. Among those attending were Mrs. Joe Jurcak, Mrs. Joe Elles Sr., Mrs. Lud Gerik, Mrs. R. W. Chada, Mrs. Jerry Ivicic, and Mrs. Jerry Sembera.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and family of Corpus Christi have been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar. Donald and Terry remained with grandparents Kolar while Janice and Michael visited grandparents McNabbs in Vanderbilt for a day or so. The youngsters accompanied their grandmother, Mrs. H. Y. Kolar home to Corpus last Friday. Mrs. Kolar, returned home Saturday.

We certainly wish Pat Bosak a speedy recovery. He is a patient in the hospital at Ganado.

Mr. and Mrs. "Jack Dolezal of Houston pleasantly surprised the C. B. Semberas one day last week.

We wish John Chlastak a speedy recovery. He is in a hospital in Wharton for surgery.

Don't forget the game party and supper at the LaSalle Hall on Sunday, March 9, starting at 5:00 p. m. Fun for all. Everybody welcome.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla and sons, Ronnie and Edward, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Sralla in Granger, Friday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jakie Leissner, Jr. of Dallas spent last Sunday and Monday visiting his dad, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Leissner Sr. and Madlyn.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla and family spent Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sembera and family in Rosenberg and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Toman and family in Claudine.

Mrs. R. W. Chada entered the hospital in Ganado Sunday evening to undergo surgery Monday morning. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Fellow FHA students reported a day well spent when attending the Fat Stock Show in Houston last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schattel visited in Houston Wednesday and Thursday. They also attended the Fat Stock Show.

Mrs. Tommy Broome and children of Victoria visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Parker last week.

Miss Routh Anne Miles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miles, is among the sick ones in our community this week. We wish her a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gwosdz and family of Victoria and Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Helwig and family also of Victoria spent Sunday with their mother, Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz.

Edward Sralla, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla, left last Friday for Washington, D. C. He is in the air force.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and children of Corpus Christi visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar last weekend.

Congratulations to Reed Oliver, who is now a district superintendent for Humble Oil and Refining Co.

Joe Kubala and daughter, Mrs. Mary Stepan motored to Yorktown to keep an appointment with Mr. Kubala’s doctor. Mr. Kubala is a new patient in the Yorktown hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Korenek Jr. and son of Houston spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Korenek.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kucera and sister, Miss Bernice Venglar visited their son, Clarence Kucera, in Houston one day last week. Mrs. Kucera and Miss Venglar remained in Houston to spend some time at the bedside of their sister, Mrs. Curtiss Etzell, who has been ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Clay and son, Wayne, of Richmond visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malcik last Sunday.

Mrs. Joe Fojtik was rushed to the hospital in Ganado Friday morning. We wish her a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Guardamal of Houston spent the weekend here visiting her parents, Joe Fojtik and Mrs. Fojtik at the hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Janak transacted business in Hallettsville one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Kopecky of El Campo visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Dolezal a couple of days last week. Mrs. Kopecky remained to spend the remainder of the week here visiting her parents and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar and family and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and family of Corpus Christi visited their son, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kolar in Victoria Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ivicic Jr. and family of Victoria spent last Sunday here visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ivicic Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe Hardin and son of Victoria have been spending several days visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Chlastak and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurcak are enjoying a new Chevrolet.

Francis Clingman, a civilian again, is here to be with his wife, Mrs. Clingman and her mother, Mrs. Annie McDonald.

Mrs. Jerry Ivicic was hostess to the Willing Workers Home Demonstration Club last Monday. Members and several visitors attended and enjoyed the demonstration, games and delicious refreshments.

Mrs. E. F. Parker was pleasantly surprised last Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerjes and family of Edna, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Broome and family of Victoria, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jeal and family of Point Comfort came to help her celebrate her birthday. She received many beautiful gifts and Mrs. Teal remembered to bring the cake. Many more happy returns, Mrs. Parker!

Bill James and son, William, visited in San Antonio Friiday and Saturday. Grandmother James returned home with her son to spend some time here visiting the family and her many friends in our community.

Alfred Pittman of Dublin has been visiting his uncle, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. White.

Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Bales of Oklahoma are here visiting their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones and family.

Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Gebauer and family of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Felix Korenek and family of Wharton visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Korenek last Sunday.

Bob J. Hardin of Victoria, became suddenly ill while visiting here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Chlastak and is now a patient in a Houston hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery.

J. Kubala is a patient in the Yorktown hospital following surgery the early part of last week. Mrs. Mary Stepan has been at the bedside of her dad. We wish Mr. Kubala a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles, Jr. of Edna, and Mrs. Franklin Elles accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kolich and daughters, Iris and Nyle Ruth all of Victoria were guests. of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurcak last Sunday.

Congratulations to Mr. Fassino and the Industrial band in making Sweepstakes in Victoria Saturday.

The community was saddened by the news of the tragic accident that took the lives of Rev. and Mrs. Mac Malone. Deepest sympathy is extended to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Malone.

August Trojcak and Henry Kolar accompanied Bill Janak to York Town Thursday to visit J. J. Kuba-la, a patient in the Yorktown Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Dolezal of Needville spent Sunday visiting their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sembera.

Mr. and Mrs. Reed Oliver of Longview spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Malcik to help celebrate Mr. Malcik's birthday this week..

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar spent Saturday night in Beeville visiting their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb, Jr., and family who are new residents there.

Miss Gladys Janak spent the weekend in Inez visiting girl friends.

Mrs. Mary Stepan and Mrs. Lud Gerik accompanied Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Chada to Yorktown last Saturday to visit Mrs. Stepan's dad, Joe Kubala, who is in the hospital there.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clingman left our community to make their new home in Lake Arthur, Louisiana.

Mrs. Johnnie Zacek was elected Mother of the Year in a recent Altar Society meeting at St. Theresa's. Congratulations!

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Slaydon and daughter of Point Comfort visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Slaydon one evening last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilburt Matak and family of El Campo spent Sunday here visiting relatives.

Mrs. Henry Kolar and Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz accompanied Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Reininger to Yorktown one day last week to visit Joe Kubala who is in the hospital there. It is reported that Mr. Kubala is now on the road to a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Slaydon left Saturday to Baytown to take her mother, Mrs. Reeves, home. Mrs. Reeves has spent the past several weeks here visiting her daughter.

We wish a speedy recovery to the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Matak who is in the Ganado hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. August Trojcak observed their wedding anniversary Sunday with a barbecue. A host of friends and relatives were on hand for the affair.

Mrs. Mary Stepan spent Saturday in Yorktown visiting her dad Joe Kubala, who is in the hospital. We certainly wish him a speedy recovery.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malcik spent Sunday in Richmond visiting their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Clay and Wayne.

Several local families enjoyed an outing and barbecue dinner at Shell Bank last Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Leissner had lunch in Victoria Saturday, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Weis Kamper. Mrs. Leissner attended the Flower Show being held in Victoria.

With Texana Days drawing near, be sure and make plans to attend the Texana Tea. It will be held at the home of Mayor and Mrs. Harry Mauritz in Edna. So you'd better begin getting out your old timey costumes. Everyone is invited.

Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Dolezal spent a couple of days last week in El Campo the guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Kopecky, and visiting old friends.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Ivicic spent last weekend in Taylor visiting friends and relatives and looking after business matters.

Everyone is invited to attend a coffee to be held at the La Salle Hall on Sunday afternoon, April 13 from 2 to 5. Proceeds are for the Industrial Band trip to Chicago. Congratulations to all the band students, in their good ratings they received on their solos and ensembles at contest held at the Industrial High School Friday and Saturday.

E. P. Sralla motored to Corpus Christi last Thursday tending to business affairs.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Zacek and family spent last Sunday in Needville with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurca, and other relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Guardamal of Houston spent the weekend here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fojtik whom we are happy to see up and around again.

Fred Dolezal spent the weekend in Houston visiting friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Mack Stewart and son of Pt. Lavaca visited Mrs. Mary Stepan recently. They are former residents of our community.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Gleinser, and children of Victoria her visited mother, Mrs. Jacob Rozsypal, and Other relatives one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Stepan of Rosenberg combined' business with pleasure of visiting friends and relatives here Monday.

Bill Ward of San Antonio stopped by to visit his sister, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miles and family a couple of days last week. He was enroute to Austin,

We are happy to see Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz home and feeling fine after spending several days in the hospital in Cuero last week.

Bill Janak accompanied by Henry Kolar transacted, business in Hallettsville Monday and also motored to Yorktown to visit J. J. Kubala, a patient in the hospital there.

Mrs. A. M. Slaydon is spending a few days in Orange visiting her mother, Mrs. Reeves, and sister, Mrs. Thelma Winfree.

Mrs. J. A. Leissner and Madlyn attended the announcement tea for Sharon Raven, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Raven in Austin last Saturday. Mrs. Raven is a sister to Mr. Leissner.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shijka and family of Saginaw, Michigan, have spent the past week here visiting relatives. Mrs. Anna Kokes is Mrs. Shijka's mother. It is the Shijka's first visit here in five years.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gerik and family of Kingsville spent the Easter weekend here visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik and Mr. and Mrs. Pat Bosak.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Schiewitz and family of Edna and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Leissner and family of Bay City spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Leissner.

Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ledkins and family spent Easter in Needville, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Franek.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gerik and family of Kingsville and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Chada had Easter dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik.

Mrs. Joe Elles, Sr. celebrated her birthday recently. Her children, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elles and Roger, Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Elles and Jimmy, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Paulson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurcak, all helped her celebrate.

Mrs. Adolf Elles and Jimmy accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sembera and Judy to West to visit relatives there over the holidays.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Blair of Victoria spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla and family.

A. M. Slaydon went to Baytown Saturday to get Mrs. Slaydon who has spent the past week there with her mother, Mrs. Reeves and her sisters, Mrs. Aaron Granger and Mrs. Thelma Winfree.

Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miles and family spent the weekend in Austin visiting friends and relatives.

Mrs. Mary Stepan spent the weekend in Yorktown with relatives and her dad, Joe Kubala, who is a patient in the hospital there.

Don't forget the cake, coffee, banana fritter and fancy pastry sale for the band at the La Salle Hall, Sunday, April 13, from 2-5 p. m.

Also don't forget the Texana Tea on April 25 at the Harry Mauritz home. Everyone is invited.

Clarence Kucera spent the Easter holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kucera. He is presently employed in Houston.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gwosdz and children and Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Helwig and family, all of Victoria, spent Easter with their mother, Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz.

Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Dolezal and Fred spent Easter in El Campo, the guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Kopecky. Other guests in the Kopecky household included Mrs. Jenny Jacks and son, Doug, of Houston and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kopecky of East Bernard.

Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sembera and family spent Easter with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Dolezal, of Needville.

Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Chada are spending their vacation in Durfield Beach, Florida, the guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. b. Henderson and twins, Gail and Dale.

Mr. and Mrs. George Schattel motored to Houston Friday to meet their daughter, Mrs. Ray Schroeder and little son, Michael, of Cincinnati, Ohio at the Airport. They are here to spend a couple of weeks and for Mr. Schattel to get acquainted with his grandson.

Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kolar of Victoria and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and children of Beeville visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar over the weekend.

Mrs. R. F. Oliver of Longview is here to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Malcik. Mrs. Malcik had been on the sick list. We are happy that she is feeling fine again.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurcak spent the weekend in Temple visiting friends and relatives.

Folks, circle your calendar date now for Sunday, April 2, there will be a chicken barbecue supper and dance at the LaSalle Hall given by band students and their parents.

Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla are enjoying a new 1958 Chevrolet.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Gleinser and children of Victoria spent Sunday visiting her mother, Mrs. Jacob Rozsypal.

The community was saddened by the news of Mrs. Psencik’s death, she passed away in Hallettsville Tuesday. Burial was in Ganado Thursday afternoon. She was well known here as her son, Rev. Psencik was priest at St. Theresa's for many years.

Mrs. Rudy Elles and mother, Mrs. Annie Matak, spent Saturday in Needville visiting friends and relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Gwosdz and family of Edna and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gwosdz and family of Victoria were among those to visit Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mowery and little daughter of Victoria visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kolar Sunday.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the relatives of John L. Gerik of New York who suddenly passed away Saturday. Funeral services are to be held Thursday morning in West. Relatives in our commuity are Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Chada, Mrs. Henry Kolar, Mrs. Adolf Elles and Mrs. Jerry Sembera.

Mrs. Mary Stepan spent the weekend in Yorktown at the bedside of her dad, Joe Kubala. She returned Sunday evening, but was called back to Yorktown Monday evening to be with Mr. Kubala who is seriously ill. We wish him a speedy recovery.

The LaSalle band students and their parents wish to thank everyone who in any way helped to make the coffee, banana fritter and fancy pastry sale at the LaSalle Hall a success.

Among those CYO students of St. Theresa and St. John, Bosco to attend the youth rally in Victoria Sunday were: Beatrice Zacek, Barbara Sumbera, Martha Sembera, Patricia Sembera, Kelly Frels, Rosemarie Sralla, Edmond Juroske, Timmy and Billy Cernosek, Tony Pacini and Lillie Kucera.

Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clingman of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, on the birth of a baby girl, Jessica Marie, April 26. Grandmother is Mrs. Annie McDonald of our community.

A speedy recovery is extended to little Kenneth Matak, 10-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Matak, who had the misfortune of being bitten by a rattlesnake while dew- berry picking near his home last Friday evening. Kenneth was hospitalized for the weekend,

Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and children of Beeville spent a few days the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Guardamal of Houston spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fojtik.

August Sacky, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Sacky, Sr. and Beatrice Zacek, duaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Zacek were duke and duchess representatives from Saint Theresa's CYO to the annual May Fete in Nada Sunday. It was sponsored by the Nada Sodality.

We all wish Anton Rozsypal a get-well-soon. He had the misfortune to fall and break his left arm while at school.

The community was saddened by the death of Mr. E. L. Coleman. To his family we extend deepest sympathy.

Recent visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fojtik were their sisters. Mrs. Clara Novak of Praha and Mrs. Agnes Novak of Moulton.

We wish A. Sumbera a speedy recovery. He is a patient in the Jefferson Davis hospital with a broken leg. Mr. Henry Sumbera of our community is his son.

Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Clay and son, Wayne, of Richmond spent the weekend here visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Malcik.

The community extends sympathy to Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz on the death of a relative, Anton Ebrom, of Yorktown last week.

Richard Reininger Jr. enlisted in the service last Tuesday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs., R. L. Reininger Sr. and is, presently stationed at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas.

Mrs. Annie McDonald and son, Victor, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Robert Billings to Lake Arthur, La. last week to get acquainted with Mrs. McDonald's granddaughter, Jessica Marie, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clingman.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dolezal of Houston spent Saturday afternoon visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Sembera and girls.

Mrs. Lydia Gwosdz spent the weekend in Victoria to help her son, Johnny, celebrate another birthday with a barbecue and all the trimmings.

Henry Sumbera spent Sunday and Monday in Houston at the bedside of his dad. A. Sumbera, who is scheduled for surgery on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Slaydon and Denise of Point Comfort spent Mother's Day with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Slaydon.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vincik. Sr. were proud to have all their children home on Mother's Day: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vincik, Jr. and children, who have just returned from a 2 to 3 year stay in the service of Uncle Sam in England, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Vincik and children and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Roszypal and children.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ivicic Jr. and children of Victoria spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Ivicic Sr. of our community.

E. P. Sralla and daughter, Rose Marie, spent last week in Granger visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Sralla.

St. Theresa's Altar Society complimented the local CYO graduates and their families with a breakfast at the LaSalle Hall Sunday morning after attending Mass. Those honored were: Dorothy Chlastak, Billy Cernosek, Laurine Orsag. Tony Pacini, Lillie Kusak and Raymond Kolar.

Those visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dolezal last Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Kopecky of El Campo, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kopecky of East Bernard and their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Kopecky of El Campo.

Miss Sylvia Kolar and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kolar, all of Victoria and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and children of Beeville visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar last week.

We are certainly happy that Mrs. Pat Bosak is able to be home again after spending several days last week in the hospital in Ganado.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Oliver of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kocian and family and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jelenik and family all of Bloomington spent Mother's Day with their mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Volek.

Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik were pleasantly surprised Friday morning when their son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerik and children of Amarillo came in to spend a couple of weeks here.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Damborsky and family of Edna visited home folks Sunday. They report being transferred to Alabama and will be moving there soon.

Visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik Sunday were their children: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerik and children of Amarillo, Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Gerik and children of Kingsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar and children. Others were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kolar, Miss Sylvia Kolar, Victoria, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNabb Jr. and children of Beeville, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sembera and Judy and Mrs. Pat Bosak.

The community is saddened by the drowning death of Manuel Ortiz son of Mrs. Benina Ortiz, Saturday evening. To the bereaved family, we extend our deepest sympathy.

Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Elles complimented Mrs. Franklin Elles of Victoria with a farewell party Sunday afternoon. She is leaving to join her husband in Germany. Franklin is in the service. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elles and Roger Dale, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurcak, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sembera and Judy, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Paulson of Vanderbilt, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles, Jr. of Edna, and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Kolich and family of Victoria.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Korenek were among the many to attend Air Force Day in Victoria last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Slaydon. visited their son, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Slaydon and Denise one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. White visited relatives and friends in Houston one day last week.

We wish lots of luck to Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Bell and children in their new home. They now reside near Palacios.

Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Parker motored to Wharton for Mr. Parker to keep an appointment with his doctor Thursday morning. Mr. Parker was able to leave the hospital in the evening following surgery.

Mrs. Anton Rozsypal is able to home, up and around after spending a couple of days in the hospital in Ganado, the early part of the week.

Mrs. H. Silvadell of Houston has been combining business with pleasure here for several days,

The community was saddened upon learning of the death of Mr. Anton Bosak of Houston Friday morning. He had been ill several weeks. Funeral services were held in Houston Saturday afternoon with burial in Rosenberg. To the bereaved family we extend sincere sympathy.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sumbera motored to Bryan to attend graduation exercises at A&M Saturday: Their son, Patrick, was among those to graduate. Congratulations!

Tony Pacini, living with Mr. and Mrs. George Schattel, left Wednesday morning for his home in South America. Tony was a '58 graduate of Industrial.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Krcha, children and mother, Mrs. Albina Krcha, all of Rosenberg, visited friends and relatives here over the weekend. Mrs. Kreha spent her time visiting her sister, Mrs. Pat Bosak, who has been under doctor care for several weeks.

We wish a speedy recovery to Dennis Lery, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Dolezal. Dennis, in the Air Force, is in the U. S. Navy hospital in Portsmith, Va. as a result of a car accident.

Edward T. Sralla, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla, in the Air Force stationed in Washington D C., has been in the hospital under doctor care several weeks. His parents received the good news that he has been released and feeling much better.

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Leissner attended a birthday party honoring Butler Leissner in Victoria Thursday night. They reported spending a very enjoyable evening.

Local farmers were all smiles Sunday evening following the most welcome rain! Some reported as much as 1 1-2 inches, others less.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sembera and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Elles entertained Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerik and family of Amarillo in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Elles Saturday evening. Other guests were Mrs. Mary Stepan, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jurcak, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Chada, Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik, Benjamin Sembera, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kolar and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kolar of Victoria. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Greer of Robstown spent last weekend here, the guests of her brother, Mr. and August Trojcak and family.

Dietzel and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Dietzel and children; aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dietzel, all of Victoria and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Abrameit of Goliad. They celebrated little Kenneth Vincik's birthday.

Misses Jo Ann and Charlotte Trojcak, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. August Trojcak, spent several days last week visiting their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Raab in Nursery,

Mr. and Mrs. Lud Dusek and family spent the Father's Day weekend In LaGrange visiting his parents, brothers and sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Blair of Victoria, proudly announce the arrival of a baby boy born June 10 at the DeTar Hospital. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Sralla. Congratulations!

Mr. and Mrs. Jake Leissner and Madlyn returned Saturday after touring several states and visiting Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Leissner in California. They reported a most wonderful trip and enjoyed by all.

Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Ledkins and children visited relatives in Needville last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Aron Granger of Baytown, Mrs. Thelma Winfree and mother, Mrs. Reeves of Orange are spending several days here visiting their sister and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Slaydon.

June, the month of weddings will have a special one this year as there is to be a "Womanless Wed- ding" at the new auditorium in Vanderbilt. So watch for the date and make plans to attend. It's to whil hey're in Chicago.

Miss Marilyn White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John White, of Freeport is spending her vacation here with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. White.

The community certainly wishes August Kolar of Baton Rouge, La. a speedy recovery as he has been confined to his bed having spent some time in the hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joe Hardin and son of Victoria, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Chlastak and family, one day last week.

Last week, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Miles spent several days in San Antonio keeping an appointment with his doctor and visiting relatives

Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Stepan of Rosenberg have been transacting business here and are also remodeling the house occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Anton Rozsypal.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Elles Sr. have been post carding from several vacation spots that they have been visiting and reporting a most wonderful trip in this beautiful United States.

Mr. and Mrs. John Malcik of Temple visited his brother, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Malcik, a couple of days last week.

Miss Routh Ann Miles is spending several days visiting relatives in San Antonio.

Members of St. Theresa's Parish enjoyed a family breakfast at the Parish Hall after Holy Mass Sunday morning. A special treat for all the youngsters who so faithfully attended vacation religious the past two weeks. Father Hilsher, visiting priest of San Antonio, also attended.

Roger Dale Elles observed his 6th birthday Friday. Delicious refreshments were served to the little friends who came to wish him a happy birthday.

Among the kinfolks to enjoy dinner together at Shell Bank Father's Day were Mrs. Mary Stepan, Mr. and Mrs. Lud Gerik, Mr. and Mr. R. W.
