Herbert Hackbarth, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth motored to Victoria Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch and children visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hulquist. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barker motored to Aransas Pass New Year where they visited Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Barker for the day. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek Sunday night, Dec. 29. A Stanley Party was held with Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch, Dec. 31, which was well attended. Next party will be held with Mrs. Robert Hackbarth Feb. 20 at 2 p. m. Mrs. Mattie Conroy is the Stanley dealer. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel visited the J. B. Hendrix home recently. Christmas guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Pagel were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pelt of Houston, Mr. and Mrs. E. Moore of San Antonio, Mrs. Lilliam Scurlock of Victoria, and Mrs. L. D. Pagel, daughter, Nita and husband of Houston; a delicious dinner and supper with all the trimmings was served. New Year’s day was spent pleasantly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth. A delicious dinner and supper was served to these visitors: Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kneblick and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and children, Paul Constant, Charlie (Smithy) Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rackwitz and children, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer and children. Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. Hodde and children of Houston visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek New Year’s and for a few days. Christmas the Otto Knuppels had most of their children for Christmas, Mrs. Adell Schomburg and children, Mr. and Mrs. Lifford Knuppel and son of Edna. A Birthday Party was given for Miss Marjorie Kuretsch Sunday, Dec. 29. All enjoyed it. Mrs. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel visited Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Knuppel Sunday, Dec. 29. Mrs. Richard Rakohl who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and family of here has returned home. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rakohl to her home at Orange Grove New Year. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch, Marjorie of here, Mrs. Henry Weise, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hultquist attended the funeral of a cousin at Brenham Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill McClanahan and children of Corpus Christi also attended the dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Weise Sunday. Also visited the Bernad Kuretsch, H. Wieses and also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. McClanahan at LaWard.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch and children visited Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Hlavaty one night recently. A number of friends from here attended Mr. and Mrs. Freeman's 60th and Stienke's 50th wedding anniversaries on Jan 19 Mr and Mrs Herbert Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth enjoyed dinner at the home of Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Jan. 19. F. W. Rabe of Beeville, who had been staying with his daughter, Mrs. E. E. Becker and family at Victoria, came in after dinner; being visiting his sisters, the Hackbarth families for several days. From here he visited the Gustav Antons at El Campo for a few hours before returning to Victoria and then on to Kenedy and back home Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch visited Mrs. Robert Hackbarth one day. Albert Pagel underwent surgery in the Mauritz Memorial Jackson County Hospital recently and is back home by now. His friends wish for him to keep on improving. Mrs. Walter Barker has returned from San Antonio, where she visited her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Hamn and children for several days. The Coffee Circle was held with Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth Tuesday of the past week Those enjoying the morning were Mrs. G. W. Crow, Mrs. A. W. Koenig, Mrs. Monroe Dullnig, Mrs. Edwin Maresh, Mrs. Wayne Silliman, Mrs. C. Moody, Mrs. Richard Hahn., Mrs. O. E Hackbarth, Mrs. Jack Koenig, Mrs. L. D. Pagel. Delicious lunch was served--ice cream, cup cakes, apple chip cake, chiffon cup cake, oatmeal cookies, sausage, kababs, mints, coffee and punch. Next meeting will be with Mrs. C. W. Silliman on Feb. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth of here, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mrs. Ben Luckemeyer, Mrs. Grace Vavrecka visited Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Hlavaty Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Sheffeld, of Austin, visited her parents, the Monroe Dullnigs, over the weekend. Friends of here attended the Walter Kuhlman's 35th wedding anniversary Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Meischen and children of Orange Grove who had been to Lake Jackson to visit a relative stopped by Monroe Dulinigs before returning home. They left early Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schutte and two children of Cuero, visited their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig Mr. and Mrs. Anton Scheel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Karczynski. Mrs. G. W Crow of here, Mrs. Alton Lands and boys of Edna, motored to Houston Sunday to visit their daughter, Mrs. Dave DeBois and family for the day. Mrs. J. J. Strauss started teaching school the past week at Ganado for the rest of the term.

Mrs., Louie Koenning and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth Wednesday afternoon. Enjoying the afternoon Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Raymond Reue, his mother, Mrs. Laura Reue, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Knuppel, Mr. and Mrs. Lifford Knuppel and small daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Knuppel and son of Edna. The sad news arrived here of the death of Miss Margaret Pope, daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Pope, (the former Elizabeth Hahn). Miss Margaret Pope was in a two-car collision Monday at Houston, a passenger in a car driven by Miss Joan Ann Pietrantonio. The car collided with one driven by Hyman Hart. The family has our deepest sympathy in their sad hour. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thellman, relatives of the Thellmans, visited the Albert Pagels one day the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kneblick and daughters visited their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs., Herbert Hackbarth. Those enjoying the Sunday afternoon with the Albert Pagels were Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tegeler and son, Mr. and Mrs. Robert, Mr. Zajicek, Johnnie Meyer of Rosenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Meyer, Mrs. Frieda Zacharias, Mr. and Mrs. James Durham and children of Edna, and H. H. Tegeler. For the night Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel and Mrs. Martha Pagel.. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hooks and son motored to Victoria Sunday where they visited her brother and family. Friends were sorry to hear of the accident of Mr. Emil Dornak of Louise while she was driving to El Campo to visit her mother at El Campo when their car was hit by another car. Mrs. Dornak was taken to the hospital at El Campo where she stayed several days, but was brought home Tuesday of last week. They are former residents of here. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek visited Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. Dave DeBoise and son visited her parents, the G. W. Crows, and the Alton Lands.

The Coffee Circle met with Mrs. Edwin Maresh Tuesday of the past week. Refreshments were served--ice cream, layer cake, cheese, ritz, peanuts and coffee. Mesdames L. D. Pagel, Monroe Dullnig, A. W. Koening, Wayne Silliman, O. E. Hackbarth, Walter Barker and Mrs. Johnnie Hamn of San Antonio. Johnnie Hamn of San Antonio came in Thursday; he was accompanied home by his wife and two children, who had been guests at her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barker, for several days. Attending the Women Missionary Society of St. James American Lutheran Church Wednesday were Mrs. Monroe Dullnig, Mesdames August Jonata, Richard Hahn, Willie Hahn, Frank Belicek, H. K. Spencer, Bernard Kuretsch, Robert Zajicek, Ernest Pagel, Albert Pagel, Robert Hackbarth and O. E. Hackbarth. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and Darrel motored to Orange Grove after church Sunday and returned Monday. Margie stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth while her parents went to Orange Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth visited Mr. and Mrs. H. Weise Sunday afternoon. Herbert Hackbarth, his mother, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth motored to Victoria Saturday morning while Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer motored to Victoria Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch from here attended the coffee at Ganado that was given for Mrs. J. A. Gaskamp. They left for New Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kresta of Hilje, Mr. and Mrs. Pavlee from El Campo visited Marvin Kresta’s family at Point Comfort. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Kresta and son and Mrs. Micanck were visiting old friends at Hallettsville last Sunday. Their visit was greatly enjoyed. Coffee circle will meet in the home of Mrs. Wayne Silliman on Feb. 18. Mr. and Mrs. Julius Horecka and children from Point Comfort were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. John Kresta. Mrs. H. K. Spencer and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth both attended the Coffee Thursday honoring Mrs. J. R. Gaskamp at Ganado. Mr. and Mrs. John Kresta motored to Hilje Tuesday of the past week where they visited their brother and sister, the Ed Krestas at Hilje.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Kohrt and baby boy have returned to their home in Houston after visiting her parents here, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kasper and Dan Malick and family of Ganado. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hahn and daughter attended the Fat Stock Show at Houston Saturday. Herbert Hackbarth is carrying mail on Lolita Route this week. Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer motored to Victoria Saturday to visit relatives. Visiting the Monroe Dullnig's Sunday afternoon: Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Crow, Mrs. C. Moody, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth; the afternoon was spent pleasantly, also homemade ice cream was enjoyed. Several cases of flu have been in this community and still are a few remaining on the sick list. Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth Sunday. Friends of here attended the funeral of Mrs. Maude Rogers. The family has our sympathy in their bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth enjoyed dinner with his mother, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth Sunday. In the afternoon they motored to Victoria where they visited friends. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth visited the home of Mr. and Mrs., Paul Galow Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hahn and baby of Houston, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hahn. Billy, who is in the National Guard, attended the meeting. They returned to Houston Sunday evening. Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and son, Herbert, motored to Victoria Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Maresh of Ganado drove out to their farm Sunday evening where they visited their son, Edwin Maresh and family. Mrs. C. W. Silliman was hostess to the Coffee Club Tuesday of the past week. Mesdames Richard Hahn, C. S. Schafer, Wayne Silliman, O. E. Hackbarth, Edwin Maresh, L. D. Pagel, A. W. Koenig, C. Moody, Monroe Dullnig, G. W. Crow, Willie Hahn, Cassel Buckly, Robert Hackbarth and Mrs. Alton Lands, of Edna attended. Refreshments of pimento cheese sandwiches, angel food cake squares, potato chips, sweet pickle, olives and coffee. The next meeting will be in two weeks at the home of Mrs. G. W. Crow, April 1. All enjoyed the affair. Mr. and Mrs. C. Johnson of Corpus Christi visited their friends, the Monroe Dullnigs, over, the weekend. Mrs. Alma Mercer of Ganado, visited the home of Albert Pagel, also the home of the Robert Zajiceks. Mr. and Mrs. Helton Seicko and baby daughter visited Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth visited Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Schoener and also Mr. and Mrs. Sonnie Schoener in Port Lavaca last week. Mr. and Mrs. H. Hackbarth accompanied by his mother and Paul Constant went to see the championship bouts in wrestling at the Houston Coliseum Friday night. Pfc. Charlie Smith will be home about April 8 for a few days; he is stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.

Miss Mary Lee Kneblick of Edna spent several days with her sister, Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth while Herbert was gone to Seguin to a convention. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thellmann, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth. Second Lt. Johnnie Hamn and family of San Antonio are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barker here. Second Lt. Hamn will be stationed at Mission, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rokohl of Orange Grove, Texas are visiting their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and family, for a week. Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hackbarth Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hahn had a dinner Sunday, honoring Charlie on his birthday. Those enjoying the dinner: Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson of Ganado, Mr. and Mrs. Klimichek and daughter of LaWard, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brown of El Campo, Mrs. Ida Hahn and Mrs. Lucy Haidusek.

Mrs. Charlie Kirchoff is sister of Monroe Dullnig. Enjoying the dinner and day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth Sunday, were Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth of Ganado, Martin Kneblick family of Edna, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, A barbecue dinner and supper were served honoring Herbert and Catherine on their first anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hahn and daughters, Miss Mildred Hassler, Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch, Weldon and Marjorie of here and other young people of TLC left for Seguin Sunday for the rest of the day. Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Hlavaty visited Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Tomas recently for a few hours. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel had all their children home Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Lifford Knuppel and daughters of Ganado, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Knuppel and children of here, and Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Knuppel and son of Edna, Mrs. Adell Schomburg and children of Ganado, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron (Bud) Hopper and children of Houston. The Ladies gave a surprise baby shower for Mrs. Edwin Maresh, also a birthday surprise for Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth; refreshments were served. The surprised received many nice gifts. Everyone who attended had a nice time; next time the coffee circle will meet on June 10 with Mrs. Walter Barker H. R. Hackbarth and his mother motored to Victoria Friday afternoon. Harvey Jonota of Austin and August Jonota Jr. of Seguin were home for the weekend. Harley Spencers family motored to Victoria Wednesday evening.

Mrs. Jonata will visit her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Moede Crane in Missouri, while Harvey will leave for Pittsburg, where he will take a research job. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Crow recently visited her parents in Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hahn and children motored to Houston, Saturday where they visited their son, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hahn and baby and other relatives. They returned Sunday evening. The Stanley Party was held at the home of Mrs. Robert Hackbarth Thursday of last week, Mrs. Conroy of Bay City was in charge. Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch, Mrs. Leon Wofford, Mrs. Emil Roehl, Mrs. D. B. Brown, Mrs. O. P. Stienke, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mrs. E. O. Galow, Mrs. Charlie Meloy. The party was a real success; refresh ments were served of golden sponge cake, pineapple on top and chicken sandwiches, coffee and punch. The hostess thanked the ladies, and also thanked the ladies that gave outside orders. Ladies of St. James Lutheran Church of here who will teach Bible school for the next two weeks: Mrs. Monroe Dulinig, Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth, Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch, Mrs. Ernest Pagel and Mrs. Richard Hahn. Mrs. Monroe Dullnig called on Mrs. Robert Hackbarth Tuesday evening. Many of St. James Lutheran Church of here attended the family supper at Lutheran church Sunday night. Mrs. Otto Knuppel visited Mrs. Laura Reue Saturday afternoon. Herbert Hackbarth will be carrying mail this week on the Lolita route. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and Darrell Lee and Margie motored to Gonzales Saturday where they visited relatives; also attended church and confirmation. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Brandes of El Paso visited the Walter Barkers here, and also the Sillimans, Lola and Gary of here. Friends attended the funeral of Mrs. Spencer Friday afternoon. The family have our heartfelt sympathy in their bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Wofford and daughter had as their guest of Lulling, her sister, Gladys, and husband and family. Then they motoed to Lake Jackson Sunday where they visited relatives, Friends of this community were shocked to hear the sudden death of Mr. Novak who died of a heart attack. This family has our deepest sympathy in their sad hour. Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mrs. Robert Hackbarth visited Mrs. Laura Reue and Mrs. Martha Gaeking Saturday afternoon. All were enjoyed. Enjoying the afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tegeler and son, Mrs. Frieda Zacharias, H. H. Tegeler. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig had as their guest, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson and children of Corpus Christi, Texas on their way to Iowa to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Lifford Knuppel and small daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Knuppel and son of Edna, Mrs. Adell Schomburg and children all visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel Sunday. Miss Maurine Kuhlman, Miss Merline Page, Miss Ellvera Tegeler, Miss Evelyn Zacharias, and Weldon Tegeler motored to Port Alto at Bay for a swim Sunday: also Raymond Lep Pagel went along for a swim. George Schmitt visited in the Bernard Kuretsch home recently and also attended the Senior Class graduation exercises of which Weldon was a member. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Crow received a death message last Monday that Mrs. Crow's father passed away. They left the same night.

The Gus Tegelers attended the Pruess reunion Sunday, while Mrs. Zajicek and Herman visited relatives there. Friends attended the funeral services of Kenneth Green recently. Sillimans attended the wedding of Miss Dorothy Short and Lt. Ernest Biehunto in Schulenburg Saturday. Mrs. Silliman was matron of honor at her sister's wedding at a Lutheran church there. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Pagel and children of San Antonio, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel, Mrs. Martha Pagel, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pagel and son of here, visited the Mike Thellmans Sunday. Mrs., Alvin Moody of Lolita, Mrs. Grover Klaus of Red Bluff and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth called on Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth Friday. Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer, Rodney, Stanley, Kenny, and Sheila have returned from their vacation trip which took them to Rockport, Corpus Christi and Padre Island for several days. A baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Maresh Sunday, July 27 at Ganado Hospital to gladden their home. Congratulations to the parents and grandparents and grandmother, Betty Baker. A Stanley Party was held in the home of Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch Thursday. Mrs. Mattie Conroy of Bay City was in charge. All was enjoyed and it was a success. Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth attended the stork shower Wednesday honoring Mrs. Eugene Wesely, of which she was one of the hostesses. Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and son, Herbert, Mrs. H. K. Becker is staying in Houston with her daughter, Mrs. T. F. Cobb, and husband, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth motored to Victoria Tuesday. Mrs. J. J. Strauss and Mrs. L. D. Pagel helped teach Bible school at the Methodist Church for two weeks. Mrs. H. K. Spencer and children and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth motored to Victoria Wednesday morning. Mrs. Wilton Meischen and children of Orange Grove, Miss Margie Dullnig, who had been spending several weeks, accompanied her home. Mrs. Meischen returned the next day Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth attended a funeral Tuesday at Seguin. Mrs. Monroe Dullnig accompanied them as far as Seguin where she visited Fritz Dullnig for the day. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, and Mrs. H. K. Spencer visited O. E. Hackbarth, who remains very ill. Mrs. Albert Pagel, who had been in Nightingale Hospital in El Campo for several days with, a sore leg, was brought home. We wish for her to get well soon. Miss Merlene Pagel of El Campo was here over the weekend. Enjoying the afternoon in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hultquist Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch and Weldon and Marjorie, Loui Kuretsch, Mr. and Mrs. H. Weise, Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Hlavaty, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth. Mr. Hultquist's birthday was August 20 so we helped celebrate, Clifford Hultquist and son were also there for a few hours. Mrs. H. K. Spencer and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth motored to Victoria Sunday afternoon. Charles Smith enjoyed supper with Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth Friday night. Mrs. G. W. Crow is in West, Texas, staying with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Huseman and family for several weeks. Rev. and Mrs. Zimmerman visited the Monroe Dullnigs recently. They are on their vacation. The Zimmermans are from Marion, Texas. The Hackbarth families received the sad message that a nephew of their's, Alfred Hackbarth, of Marion, Texas, son of Mrs. William Hackbarth and the late William Hackbarth of Marion, passed away Sunday of a heart attack. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p. m. at Marion at Lutheran Church. They were former residents of here. Attending the Missionary Society meeting Wednesday at St. James Lutheran Church were Mrs. H. K. Spencer, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth. Mrs. Joe T. Hodde and boys of Houston came in to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek, for a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Becker and son, Larry, of Victoria accompanied by F. W. Rabe of Beeville visited the Hackbarths Tuesday. The Coffee Circle met with Mrs. Walter Barker Tuesday morning of the past week and was enjoyed by these ladies, Mesdames Monroe Dullnig, Edwin Maresh, G. W. Crow, A. W. Koenig, L. D. Pagel, Wayne Silliman, C. W. Silliman, O. E. Hackbarth, Robert Hackbarth and Mrs. Alton Lands of Edna and Mrs. Johnnie Hamn of Mission, Texas. The next coffee will be on Sept. 30 with Mrs. G. W. Crow. Harvey Jonota of Austin spent the weekend with his parents here. Victor Stavinoha who runs Dragline of this community getting his hand hurt---one of his fingers on the right hand was badly hurt; since he was by himself, he managed to get it out and rushed on to the clinic to have it dressed. However he was in terrible pain going there. We hope he will get along alright. Farmers do wish for dry weather; rains mostly every day. Herbert Hackbarth is employed by International Truck and Farmall Tractors Wells Company at Edna for over a month now. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel and Mrs. Martha Pagel of here visited Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thellman Sunday Sept. 14. The Stanley Party was well attended at the home of Mrs. Richard Hahn. Mrs. Ida Hahn visited Mrs. Lucy Haidusek for a few days. Mrs. Haidusek, Mrs. Hahn also visited Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth one afternoon the past week. Friends offer sympathy to the Ed Giese family on the loss of Mrs. Giese's father who passed away Sunday morning after a long illness. Mrs. H. K. Spencer honored her daughter, Sheila, on her birthday Saturday a week ago; fifteen little friends and a few mothers were present; all enjoyed it. H. R. Hackbarth, Mrs. Monroe Dullnig are on jury this week. Leaving for Denver, Colorado this week of here: Mrs. Monroe Dullnig, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer; Mrs. Wilton Meischen of Orange Grove will join these ladies to attend the State Federation Convention. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer will go in their station wagon, while the rest will go on train from Houston. H. R. Hackbarth and his mother motored to Victoria Saturday afternoon to visit Mr. Hackbarth. Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer, her mother and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth motored to Victoria Thursday to visit Mr. Hackbarth. Attending the funeral of R. H. Steger Monday morning at Port Lavaca were Mr. and Mrs. Felix Knuppel, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel, Mrs. Robert Zajicek, Mr. and Mrs. Kudulka and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth.
R. H. Steger Funeral services were held Monday morning for R. H. Steger of Port Lavaca, who had many friends and customers here. He had a grocery store there, and sold eggs to several families here. Saturday morning he was delivering eggs here to R. Hackbarth, and complained of feeling bad and weak. Robert helped him in his car and stayed with him while Mrs. Hackbarth phoned the hospital for a doctor, but Mr. Steger passed away with a heart attack before the doctor arrived. Leslie Psencik took the body to Port Lavaca and Felix Knuppel took Mr. Steger’s car home. Mr. Steger was born in Montgomery, Texas in 1905, and married Elsie Wilson of Olivia in 1938. He is also survived by his mother of Houston, a son and daughter, two sisters and a brother.

Enjoying Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pagel honoring Albert on his birthday, were Mr. and Mrs. James Durham and children of Edna, Mrs. Frieda Zacharias, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth of Ganado, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thelmann, north of Ganado, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, H. H. Tegeler, Mrs. Gus Tegeler and also daughter, Ellvare Tegeler of Houston, and Mrs. Martha Pagel and Mrs. Wilfred Tegeler and children. Delicious refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth enjoyed dinner with his mother Sunday; later on in the day, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth visited her parents in Edna. Mr. and Mrs. John Kucera of Vanderbilt visited his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hahn and family, Tuesday of the past week. Friends were sorry to hear of Floyd Goodman being on the sick list. We all wish him 'well soon. Mrs. Jerry Tomas who had an operation close to four weeks ago is doing as well as can be expected. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Valenta had all their children home Sunday. We are sorry Mr. Simmons remains on the sick list. We wish him well soon. Those ladies that attended the Missionary Society of St. James Lutheran Church of here were Mrs. Robert Zajicek, Mrs. O. E. We are enjoying the pretty sunshine weather for a change. We are wishing for it to last for a couple of months. Enjoying coffee at Coffee circle at the home of Mrs. C. During the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth and Mrs. O. E, Hackbarth and Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tegeler joined them and all had a very enjoyable time.

Mr. and Mrs. William Barker of Angleton visited his parents here. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek and Mrs. Joe T. Hodde and boys of Houston enjoyed a fish supper in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Zajicek Sunday, Oct. 19. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek enjoyed a 42 game with the Ernest Pagels Sunday night, Oct. 19. Rev. Duff of Cleveland visited the Walter Barkers here and Clifford Hultquist’s at Ganado and other friends. Rev. Duff is a former resident of Ganado. Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth spent a few hours in the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth Friday. Mrs. G. W. Crow and Mrs. Alton Lands and boys of Edna and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig enjoyed the evening together. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek and Mrs. Frieda Zacharias visited Mr. and Mrs. A. Baur Sunday night. Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Hlavaty, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thellman all visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Roehl Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hall and Rhonda Lee of Missouri City, came in to visit her parents for the weekend. All were very much enjoyed. A delicious lunch was served.

All news given to me will be very much appreciated. Mrs. H. K. Spencer and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth motored to Victoria Friday morning Mrs. Adell Schomburg and Paulette, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel and Mr. and Mrs. Felix Knuppel motored to Bishop early Sunday morning to visit a cousin of theirs for the day. The visit was greatly enjoyed. They also stopped by Mrs. Felix Knuppel's sister and family at Woodsboro. Enjoying dinner and the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kneblick and Margie of Edna, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Spencer and children, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth. They were honoring Herbert on his birthday The Paul Kneblicks, Martin Kneblicks and Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth went fishing Saturday evening down at the bay. Friends attended the funeral of Mrs. Migel of Louise. The family has our sympathy. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pagel attended the birthday of Otto Meyer Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Frank Belicek, Mrs. Richard Hahn, Mrs. Ernest Pagel, Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch, Mrs. Robert Zajicek, Mrs. Albert Pagel, Mrs. Monroe Dullnig, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth attended the Missionary Society of the Lutheran Church Wednesday of the past week. Mrs. Wayne Silliman's name was left off of the coffee which was held at Mrs. Edwin Hohsenee's.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch and daughter, Marjorie, motored to Seguin early Sunday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kneblick of Victoria were also at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth on November 9. These attended the bridal show-er honoring Mrs. Leonard Galow Monday, Nov, 10, from here: Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch and daughter, Marjorie, Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth, Mrs. Monroe Dullnig, Mrs. Robert Hackbarth, Mrs. H. K. Spencer, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mrs. Cassel Buckley, Mrs. Richard Hahn. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Buechman of Shiner visited Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and attended to business matters. Coffee circle met with Mrs. Edwin Maresh Tuesday morning of past week. Enjoying the morning: Mesdames Walter Barker, Monroe Dullnig, O. E. Hackbarth, A. W. Koenig, Jack Koenig, G. W. Crow, L. D. Pagel, C. Moody, and Robert Hackbarth. Coffee, cheese crackers, cookies and olives were served. The next meeting will be with Mrs. A. W. Koenig on Nov. 25. Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dullnig and children, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel, of here, Mr. and Mrs. Wiegand Sr. of Victoria, enjoyed supper and the afternoon on Sunday, Nov. 9 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thellman. Enjoying Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Reue and Mrs. Laura Reue were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hackbarth and Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Tegeler Sr., Mrs. Frieda Zacharias and Mr. and Mrs. James Durham and children and Albert Pagel's visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek Sunday afternoon. The cooking party was held at the home of Mrs. Willie Hahn Thursday Nov. 13. It was a success. Mrs. Conroy was in charge. Friends of here attended the 50th golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kucera Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. John Dittrich, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sowell of Edna, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Larkin and Mrs. John Larkin of Cordele visited with Mr. and Mrs. H. Calcote Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, Mrs. H. K. Spencer motored to Victoria Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. Hodde and boys of Houston have returned to their home after visiting and sightseeing at Corpus Christi and visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek, little Kennel Hodde remained with his grandparents here for several days.

All news given to me is appreciated. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thellman enjoyed dinner with her mother, Mrs. Martha Pagel and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Pagel Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lifford Knuppel and small daughters accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Otto Knuppel, visited their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. (Bud) Aarron Hopper and children, Mr. and Mrs. Lifford Knuppel also visited her sister and family at Houston Nov. 16. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Zajicek accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Rob’t Hackbarth, Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth, motored Sunday to Port Lavaca, where they wanted to visit Mrs. R. H. Steger and family, however, they had gone to her parents at Olivia. That afternoon we went on to Olivia where we joined them all. The afternoon was very much enjoyed. Mr. R. H. Steger passed away Sept. 20 while he was buying up eggs at the New Sutherland Company. Mrs. Steger is remembered by her friends as Elsie Wilson of Olivia, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuretsch and Marjorie visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Weise Sunday. Mrs. H. R. Hackbarth is carrying mail this week while H. Calcote has gone to see his sick brother who has been sick. Mrs. O. E. Hackbarth and Mrs. H. K. Spencer motored to Victoria Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hahn and baby boy have returned to their home at Houston after visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hahn. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Knuppel and son of Edna, visited his parents here Sunday afternoon.
