January 15, 1914

The last meeting of the Woman’s Club was held in the church Jan. 15th, 1914 with twenty members present.

It was a regular business meeting and reports were heard from the various officers and committees.

The Secretary’s report was read and accepted. The Corresponding Secretary reports several letters written and yearbooks sent upon request. Report approved.

The Educational Dept. report was also accepted.

Mrs. House chairman of the Library Com. submitted her report. Owing to other duties she could not remain as chairman of her committee and they had elected Mrs. C. E. House as their chairman. Mrs. House to remain on committee until she left Collegeport. Report accepted.

The Report of the Home Economics department told very fully of their work and it was approved.

The Committee on By laws with Mrs. House as chairman reported that they had been unable to complete their work and the committee was continued.

Bills were presented. The Corresponding Secretary’s account was ordered $.40 paid out of the Club Funds. The bill of $3.36 for material for the Library was ordered paid out of the Library Fund.

The Treasurer reported 12 taken in during the first half of year Paid out ___ leaving a balance on hand of $70.

It was suggested that it would be a good plan to look up our dues.

Mrs. Burton D. Hurd gave several good suggestions that might be put into the new By-laws.

As there was no further business to come before the house the meeting was turned over to Mrs. C. E. Heard who had charge of a short program on Political Science. A few facts on the Texas form of government were read by Mrs. Pine, Mrs. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. House and a paper on the origin of Primaries by Miss Spence.

February 17-1914

On account of rain the meeting for the twelfth was postponed until Tuesday the seventeenth at the home of Mrs. Smith. It was the largest meeting of the year and a most excellent program was given. There was no business transacted.

Mrs. Clapp gave the story of the opera The Ring of the Nibelung in a very interesting reading. The story of the prelude Das Rheingold was told by Mrs. C. E. Heard and beautifully described by Miss Smith at the piano. The first opera Die Walkure was read by Mrs. Herbage. Mrs. Culp sang Seigfried’s Love Song.

The opera Siegfried was described and illustrated by Miss Smith as were the third Die Gotterdammerung. Superlatives along could express the pleasure of the audience and a rising vote of thanks was given Miss Smith and Mrs. Culp.

February 26th 1914

Woman’s Club at the church Thurs. Feb. 26-

The report of Secretary read and approved.

The resignation from the club of Mrs. House read and accepted. This caused the vacancy of the vice pres. chair. Ballots were taken five nominees. Mrs. Van Ness elected vice president by unanimous vote. Rules suspended on motion of Mrs. B. D. Hurd sec. Mrs. Morris. Letters read for Mrs. Fall State Pres. and Mrs. Bruce Reid.

Clean up day March 10 discussed and Mrs. Elmer, Mrs. B. D. Hurd & Mrs. Morris were appointed a com. to take charge of it.

The President suggested that the question of By Laws be taken up by the advisory board as the com. was without a chairman. Mrs. Ross added to the board to take the place of Mrs. Hansel.

Library Com. report accepted. Current magazines asked for when read resulted in the offer of the Ladies Home Journal by Mrs. Merck, McClures - Mrs. C. E. Heard, Texas Club Woman by Mrs. B. D. Hurd, American Motherhood by Mrs. Elmer.

The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. Sholl who had charge of a very interesting as well as instructive program in the Home Economics dept. subject. Baby and Its Food. Articles were read by Mrs. Herbage on Prenatal Food, Mrs. Corse Infant Food, Mrs. Elmer Pure Food Adulteration, Mrs. Heard Essentials of Good Food. Mrs. Sholl discussed the pure milk supply and told us that Mr. Clapp would give us demonstration on bacteria in the near future. A general discussion closed the meeting.

Mar 12-1914

There was no regular meeting on Thursday March 12 as there were not enough for a quorum. The meeting was called to order by the president and Mrs. Van Ness took charge of the program. She gave a very interesting account of the various public institutions and had some pictures of same. A meeting of the advisory board was called for the following Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Corse to work on the new by laws.
 


March 17-1914

The advisory board met at the home of Mrs. Corse. Mrs. B. D. Hurd had been asked to be present. The object was to form articles of amendments to the Constitution and articles on By Laws. There were five members present and Mrs. Hurd.

The Cor. Secretary acted as secretary in the absence of the Secretary.

The first topic under discussion was the advisability of a sec. vice president which resulted in two in favor and three against.

A motion made by Mrs. Kirkpatrick sec. by Mrs. Woodhouse that the Advisory board recommend to the club the election of officers this year to be the first meeting in April so as to conform with the General Federation. Motion carried.

The Board took up the following articles of Amendments.

Art. V Sec 2.

Article V. Sec. 2 on motion by Mrs. Ross sec. Mrs. Holsworth that the regular annual meeting shall be held on the First Thurs. in March carried.

Article 6. Sec. 4 motion by Mrs. Holsworth sec. by Mrs. Kirkpatrick that the motion made May 8, 1913 by Mrs. Corse sec. Mrs. House be made a rule of the club that is any lady member of the club who is a non resident or gentleman of the town who shall pay dues shall be associate members.

The President asked Mrs. B. D. Hurd to vote and express her ideas on the Amendments and by laws and she was the means of helping form the same.

By Laws.

Art. I

Article I. Meetings. Motion Mrs. Holsworth sec. Ross that

Sec. 1. The Club shall hold a general meeting once each quarter for the purpose of transacting the general business of the club. Carried.

Sec. 2. Motion Mrs. Kirkpatrick sec. Mrs. Ross standing committees shall submit reports in writing at each general business meeting. Carried.

Sec. 3. Motion Mrs. Woodhouse sec. Mrs. Judin that the chairman of the departments and standing committees shall attend the executive board meetings and shall be entitled to a vote in the meetings. Carried.

Art II.

Article II. Departments

Sec. 1 Motion Mrs. Kirkpatrick second Mrs. Holsworth that for the better execution of its object the Club shall be organized into departments at the discretion of the executive board provided they do not conflict with the executive board provided they do not conflict with the work of the Federation. Carried.

Sec. 2. Motion that the chairman of the departments shall be appointed by the executive board at its each first meeting. Accepted.

Sec. 3 Each department shall be responsible for the club room on the day of the meeting carried.

Sec. 4. Each department shall be responsible for its press notices.

Art. IV. Library

Sec. 1. Motion Mrs. Kirkpatrick sec. Mrs. Judin that the name of the Library shall be The Collegeport Public Library, a unanimous vote.

Sec. 2. A motion that the Library shall be in charge of a Librarian who shall be a member of the Woman’s Club, whose duty it shall be to have supervision of the books and furnishings of the Library, who shall select her own assistants in the management of the same. She shall render statements of the work condition and needs of the Library to the club for satisfaction.

Article IV. Dues.

Section 1 motion that the regular dues of the club members shall be one dollar ($1.00) carried.

Section 2. that the club members whose dues are in arrears at the annual meetings shall be deprived of a vote. Carried.

Section 3. that the club members whose annual dues shall have lapsed for the period of two years shall be dropped from the club. Carried.

Motion by Mrs. Kirkpatrick sec. by Mrs. Holsworth, that these articles on Bylaws and Constitutional Amendments be presented to the club. Motion accepted.

March 26-1914

The meeting was called to order by the president Mrs. Corse. 19 members and 13 visitors present.

The reports for the meetings of Feb. 26 and Mar. 14 read and approved. The minutes of the advisory board meeting read by Mrs. Woodhouse.

Motion by Mrs. Hurd that we have our election of officers this year the first week in April seconded by Mrs. Sholl amended to read the first club meeting in April accepted and the motion carried.

Amendments and ByLaws to the Constitution read by the secretary.

Reread article by article..Amendments.

Article V Sec. 2. Reread.

Motion by Mrs. B. D. Hurd sec. Mrs. Sholl that the word Thursday be stricken discussion followed and amended to read same as before. Carried.

Article VI. Sec. 4 reread accepted.

Bylaws. Art. 1 meetings Sections 1, 2 & 3 reread and accepted.

Article II Departments Section 1, 2 3 & 4 reread and accepted.

Article III Standing Committees

Sec. 1. Reread motion Mrs. Hurd sec. Mrs. Sholl that the Home School Committee be added, reread and accepted.

Article IV. Sec. 2 upon motion Mrs. Kirkpatrick sec. Mrs. Herbage had this added. The Librarian shall be appointed by the executive board. Approved.

Article V. Sections 1, 2 and 3 approved.

The Bylaws were then accepted upon motion Mrs. Sholl sec. Mrs. Woodhouse.

Rising vote 16 for and 3 against.

The report of the Library Com. accepted and the announcement of the lunch at the new Sholl building.

The meeting was then turned over to the St. Cecilia Society in charge of Mrs. Van Ness assisted by Miss Crabill and Miss Kone.

The first number was a Hymn Jerusalem accompanist Miss Marian Glasser. The others were solo on piano Francis Brown duet Margaret Travis and Mrs. Van Ness. Geography of the piano a reading by Sadie Powers, solo March of the Animals Ruth Glasser, Red Riding Hood Margaret ?? a double number by Anna Van Ness. Vocal solo Miss Irene Jacobs, a playette Handel by six girls, duet Frances Brown and Mrs. Van Ness, solo Miriam Glaser, Hungarian National hymn. Miss Evelyn Kone a double number ___ solo by Miss Crabill a duet double number Miss Kone and Mrs. Van Ness and the closing number national airs by Anna Van Ness and Mrs. Van Ness.

Mrs. Corse thanked the soloists in behalf of the Woman’s Club for the pleasure of listening to such an interesting program.

The President appointed as the nominating com. Mrs. B. D. Hurd chairman, Mrs. Pine, Mrs. M. A. Travis, Mrs. Kahnt and Mrs. Herbage. The secretary was instructed to draw an order on the Treasury for fifty cents and see that the district dues were forwarded to the 4th district Treasurer.

April 9-1914

The Collegeport Woman’s Club held its regular annual election of officers April 9th in the church. There were seventeen members present.

In the absence of the President Mrs. Corse a motion was made by Mrs. Elmer seconded by Mrs. Buchen that Mrs. Kirkpatrick be made chairman of the meeting. Carried.

The secretary’s report read and corrected. A communication from Mrs. Cunningham President of 4th District read. Mrs. B. D. Hurd read a communication from the chairman of the Education Com.

Librarian’s report read and approved.

Upon motion by Mrs. Woodhouse sec. by Mrs. Elmer letters of appreciation are to be sent to Mrs. Robt. Price & Mrs. S. W. House.

Motion by Mrs. B. D. Hurd sec. Mrs. Kahnt that the Treas. Be instructed to transfer the five dollars ($5.00) owed the Library Fund from the C. Woman’s Club fund to the above.

Motion by Mrs. Burton D. Hurd that the matter of Insurance on the Library be put into the hands of the committee to place as they found best.

The report of the nominating committee was read upon motion Mrs. Elmer sec. Mrs. Buchen and we proceeded to the election of officers.

For President nominations sixteen votes cast. Mrs. H. N. Sholl was elected president on the second ballot. For Vice President Mrs. Ross, received the majority votes cast and was elected. For Recording Secretary Mrs. Pine. For Corresponding Secretary Mrs. Woodhouse was re-elected as was the Treasurer Mrs. Judin. The Treas. Gave rough estimated of funds on hand. After some discussion and one motion not sustained, a motion by Mrs. Elmer was sec. Mrs. Holsworth that we have Mrs. B. D. Hurd as our delegate at the 4 Dist. Convention with out paying expenses. Carried. Mrs. Sholl was appointed as alternate.

April 23rd 1914.

The meeting of the Woman’s Club Apr. 23rd was called to order by the Secretary. On account of the illness of Mrs. Corse a chairman was appointed. Motion by Mrs. Woodhouse sec. Mrs. B. D. Hurd, Mrs. Kirkpatrick was made the chairman. 12 members present.

Minutes read and approved. Cor. Sec. read several communications from the chairman of various committees of the 4th District, also a receipt for the District Club dues.

Notice of a political meeting for the evening of April 23rd read.

Chairman of the Library Co. read the report ending April 1914 as sent to the convention. The question of Library insurance discussed and left with the committee as before.

Corresponding Sec. expense account read amounting to $1.50. It had been paid.

The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. Pine. Her program on Southern Literature was very interesting and much enjoyed by all present.

The leader gave a short introduction to the subject and sketches of several authors with Selections then followed. Mrs. Duckworth Lives of Haney and Henry Timrod with selections. Mrs. Tom Morris Biography of Haney. Mrs. Travis Life of Edgar Allen Poe. Mrs. Kirkpatrick Joel Chandler Harris selection from Uncle Remus. Solo by Mrs. Culp, “Who Knows” by Paul Dunbar, Mrs. Elmer gave Life of Poet Irwin Russel and 3 selections in his different styles. Article on Growth of Southern Libraries by Mrs. C. E. Heard.

May seventh 1914.

Collegeport Woman’s Club met in the Church Thursday May 7. Called to order by the President. Fourteen members present. Secretary’s report read and approved.

Library Com. reported $4.50 raised to pay for chairs and $4.04 for books for children. Announcements of trip to Gulf under auspices of Committee.

Discussion of the Cemetery question.

Motion by Mrs. Sholl sec. Mrs. Elmer that the report and address of Mrs. B. D. Hurd at the District Convention be given in the near future.

Remarks Mrs. Kirkpatrick suggested that the program on Southern Literature on May 7 in charge of her committee be omitted and the meeting turned over to Mrs. Hurd. Motion carried and it was decided to have it Thursday May 7th. The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. Elmer. Her subject was Children’s Diseases Remedies and proved very interesting as well as helpful to those present. Mrs. Herbage read an article on ____ from American Medicine and Immunity & Immunization from same. Magazine by Mrs. C. E. Hurd.

Mrs. Sholl on Measles, transmission, etc. Short articles from American Motherhood by the ladies present was followed by a discussion. Mrs. Burton D. Hurd gave a talk on Children’s diseases.

The motion to adjourn was carried.

May 21st 1914.

The Woman’s Club held its last meeting in the church May 21st. Sixteen members and 7 visitors were present.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.

The Amendments to the Constitution Art. V Sec. 2 and Art VI Sec. 4 were read. Each article reread and acted upon separately. Motion Mrs. Morris sec. Mrs. Nelson. Art V Sec. 2 was accepted as read viz – The regular annual meeting shall be held on the first Thursday in March.

Art VI Sec. 4 Motion by Mrs. Sholl sec. Mrs. Elmer Art. VI Sec. 4 was accepted as read viz – Any lady member of the club who is a non resident or any gentleman of the town who shall pay dues shall be associate members.

The President requested that the ByLaws be read.

Corresponding sec. read an announcement from Corpus Christi and a letter from Mrs. Fall regarding the Biennial at Chicago.

Report of Library committee Sixty new books added at a cost of $37.22.

Mrs. Burton D. Hurd then took charge of the meeting. An explanation of Federation work for women new to club work was given before the report.

A report of the 13th annual district convention at Navasota Apr. 30 to May 2 was given in the reading of program. The Francitas Club proved to be the banner club this year. Among the reports noted were Girls’ Training, School Work, Canning Clubs, Peace report, Free Kindergarten and Conservation of Waterways. Mrs. Hurd’s address on Education which was vociferously applauded at the convention was very interesting to all present.

Thanks of our President and the members of the club were extended to the speaker.

We were very pleased to note one among those present who had not been with us in a year and a half, we speak of Mrs. Kone.

June 4, 1914

The Woman’s Club met in the church June 4th. There were fourteen members and three visitors present.

The business meeting was postponed until after the program.

Mrs. Herbage had charge of a very interesting program on Hygiene of the Child and Youth. An article by a specialist Care of Children’s Teeth was read by Mrs. C. E. Heard, an article on Outdoor Sleeping by Mrs. Kahnt and School Hygiene by Mrs. B. D. Hurd. A poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox “Well Born” was read by Mrs. Van Ness. Mrs. Herbage then turned the program to Mrs. Sholl who had secured Mrs. [Mr.] Clapp for some demonstration work. To those of us who had never had the privilege of seeing such experiments it proved exceedingly interesting as well as instructive. Two tests were made of milk to show the relative value of cow’s milk and mother’s milk. The Mother’s registered 5.8 fat and the cow’s 5.2 fat.

Mr. Clapp very kindly offered to make one test of a cow’s milk for any one present free of charge. This takes time and some expense but on account of the good results obtained in a better milk supply he offered it.

Mrs. Corse thanked Mr. Clapp on behalf of the members. Mrs. Sholl also thanked Mr. Clapp. The minutes of the last meeting were read but owing to the fact that there was not a quorum no business was transacted.

June 18-1914

The Woman’s Club held the last meeting of the year in the church June 18th 1914. The President called the meeting to order after which the report of the secretary for May 21st was read and accepted. The report for June 4th had a slight correction after which it was accepted. 14 members present.

This being the annual business meeting reports from all officers were read.

The report of the recording secretary showed a membership of 44 active members and 1 associate member. Sixteen meetings were held and four executive board meetings. Dues collected during year $33.77. Dues still owing club $25.25. Report approved.

A partial report of Library Com. was read and approved and the final report will be published in the paper.

The Corresponding Secretary’s report was accepted. 36 letters written during year, 38 postal cards. Expenses for year $3.18 which has been paid.

The reports of the Domestic Science and Education departments were accepted. Both reports showed very good work [for] the year.

The question of organized play for the children was discussed. Upon motion of Mrs. Kirkpatrick sec. by Mrs. Kahnt it was decided to turn the question over to the new officers.

Mrs. Corse gave a short review of the year’s work and then introduced the new President who took the chair. She presented Mrs. Sholl with the gavel she had used during the year and brought with her from her home.

Mrs. Sholl gave a short address asking the cooperation of each member to make the club a success next year.

The Advisory Board to consist of the officers & Mrs. Burton D. Hurd, Mrs. Herbage and Mrs. M. A. Travis.

Motion made and carried to have organized play during the summer. The Com. to be selected by the Advisory Board.

Upon motion by Mrs. Elmer sec. Mrs. Herbage the thanks of the Club was extended to Library Com.

Secretary’s Report for year 1914-1915

June 30, 1914

First meeting of the Advisory Board was held at Library room at Mrs. Yeaman’s building. June 30th 1914 meeting called to order by president all members present. As it seemed necessary to move library to new quarters discussion of that subject came first. Motion made by Mrs. Ross sec. by Mrs. Pine that the books be moved to west room of public school house. Arrangement was made to clean room and move library immediately. Appointing head of Departments next in order the following were elected Home Economics, Mrs. Woodhouse; Music, Grace Smith; Educational, Mrs. Corse; Library, Mrs. T. C. Morris. Standing committees came next. Mrs. Kahnt was elected chairman membership com.; Mrs. Travis – Health dep.; Mrs. Kirkpatrick – Federation; Mrs. Herbage – Rules & reg.; Mrs. Van Ness – Home & School. Moved and sec. to appoint com. to attend to organized play. Mrs. C. E. Heard was elected chairman.

July 6 1914

Second meeting of Advisory Board met at new library room July 6th not all present. Decided to have opening of the new library on Fri. night. The Advisory board having cleaned room and moved books to the present location appointed com. donated refreshments and superintended opening, which was enjoyed by all who came.

Mrs. T. C. Morris Librarian chose as her committee to help in library for coming year Mrs. B. D. Hurd, Mrs. Holsworth, Miss Weidmier, Mrs. Roy Nelson & Mrs. Elmer.

Several books needing repairs the Librarian was allowed 25 ct. from “fine bank” to buy mucilage for same leaving bal. of 3 ct. in bank.

Several heads of departments having resigned, the board adjourned to meet Aug. 26th to elect chairman for the various departments filling the places of those resigned. Mrs. Corse resigned as chairman of Educational department and because so many others had done likewise, a motion was made by Mrs. Van Ness seconded by Mrs. T. C. Morris that the president appoint a program committee to prepare the yearbook. She appointed Mrs. B. D. Hurd chairman, Mrs. Van Ness and Mrs. Geo. Ross. Motion was made by Mrs. Ross seconded by Mrs. Hurd that a Better baby contest be held on September 12-13 at school house.

Sept. 10 1914

First regular business meeting of Woman’s Club for year 1914-1915 met at Library rooms. President called meeting to order, ten members present-not a quorum therefore a unanimous vote was taken to proceed.

Reports of standing committee was called for by president. The Librarian gave a good report of work done in the time she had charge. Program committee’s work was reported by the chairman Mrs. B. D. Hurd.

An interesting account was given outlining reason for appointing program committee, thoughts and ideas, contained in yearbook etc.

Club stationery was recommended by president. Election of delegate was postponed.

Woman’s Club met at Library Sept. 24th 1914

Meeting called to order by president. Some postponed business was transacted. A bill of $6.00 was allowed for yearbooks. Election of delegates to convention by ballot resulted in electing Mrs. Sholl delegate and Mrs. T. C. Morris alternate. Reports of committees Library, Treas. and Programs were given (Mrs. Ross not present on account of sickness the program was carried out by Mrs. B. D. Hurd and the subject Textile and fabric.) Motion was made by Mrs. Van Ness seconded by Mrs. Elmer to reduce the number constituting a quorum to seven instead of twelve. The president appointed Mrs. Van Ness, Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Kirkpatrick to draw up such an amendment as would be necessary. Voted to extend shelf room in library by separating those we have.

A very interesting program was carried out and exhibits of rare and beautiful hand wrought work of various kinds was displayed which was enjoyed by all present.

Oct 8th 1914

Woman’s Club met at Library. Called to order by president. Report of committee appointed to amend constitution made by Mrs. Van Ness as follows. Amendment to Art. V. Sec III “Seven members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.” The Gov. proclamation setting apart Oct 9th as fire prevention day was read. Mrs. Kirkpatrick resigned as chairman of program of Nov. 5th. Mrs. Van Ness took charge of program – Home School dept. Subject: Our School. Current events was interesting. Mrs. Van Ness read a paper on Our School with suggestions for beautifying the school grounds. A talk by Prof. Laslie about our school house outside and in. Miss Hunter gave a talk on the school room and a poem by Mrs. Duckworth closed. Also Prof. Laslie urged the patrons to visit school. All enjoyed by those present.

Oct 22nd 1914

Woman’s Club met Oct. 22nd at reading room. Secretary ordered to send federation dues of $3.25. Also mail for four yearbooks to Dist Pres., Treas., State Pres. & Treas. Nine members.

Amendment to Art. V. Sec III read but not voted on. All business requiring voters postponed for lack of quorum. Meeting turned over to Mrs. Kahnt. Subject: American Music. Mrs. Clapp read an article on Progress of Music in the last thirty years. Comments of musical writers on mistakes to avoid was read. Mrs. Van Ness read an interesting article on the state of music and art in Europe at present.

After which Mrs. Hull entertained all by several selections of American Music of interesting kinds on Victrola.

Nov 5th 1914

Met at usual place. Business meeting opened by Mrs. Sholl, who finding it impossible to go as delegate to Gal. A motion was made by Mrs. Clapp seconded by Mrs. C. E. Heard to instruct Mrs. Elmer to represent us at Gal. Report by Mrs. T. C. Morris of Hallowe’en Social net $8.06. Sub. Program Fashions in charge of Mrs. Sholl. An interesting article by Mrs. Van Ness on Modern Dressing of Women. Nov. 19th 1914

Woman’s Club met at church. Opened by pres. who presented an appeal from Tex. training school for help to establish a school for erring girls. Motion by Mrs. Van Ness that Club donate one dollar to help same. Motion by Mrs. Van Ness that Mr. Sholl be employed to frame a picture for the Club to be used in school Subject of Assist Librarian for school use of books. Motion by Mrs. Boody seconded by Mrs. Van Ness that we have Mrs. Margaret Holsworth for same. Program: Art of Storytelling by Mrs. Boody a splendid paper on same to be illustrated the Sat. eve following which was a complete success and enjoyed by a full house.

Dec. 17th 1914

Woman’s Club met at reading room. Opened by reading minutes of previous meeting. Report of Fed. Woman’s Club written by Mrs. Elmer was read for which a vote of thanks was extended. Mr. & Mrs. Sholl presented the club with frames for 2 pictures. Mrs. Culp moved a vote of thanks for same. Club voted to pay for glass etc and Mr. Sholl would frame and furnish lumber for bal. pictures for $1.00 each. Moved to buy window shades com. to consist of Mrs. T. C. Morris, Mrs. Clapp and Mrs. Holsworth were appointed to buy shades. Mrs. Van Ness and Mrs. Morris were appointed to present a framed picture to school on Wed. before Xmas. Program: Needlecraft in charge of Mrs. D. E. Heard, had been postponed to this date, on account weather. Mrs. Culp read a paper on Needlecraft which covered the subject very nicely, followed by inspection of very interesting exhibits of all kinds needlework – a very good program.
 


Dec. 31st

Woman’s Club met Dec. 31st at home of president. Eight members present. Reading of minutes of previous meeting also reading of report from Gal[veston] Fed[ederation] W[omen’s] C[lub] Convention by Mrs. Elmer. A conclusion of said report which made a very comprehensive report.

Mrs. Van Ness gave interesting report of presentation to school of framed picture from Woman’s Club Home School dept.

Discussion of sewing resulted in setting the following Wed. as a special sewing day to meet at home of president.

Mrs. Boody had purchased a new book and requested club to take action on accepting same for library. Voted to thankfully accept the book.
