Richard O'Neal

Funeral services for Richard O'Neal Sr., 86, were held Friday at Union Baptist Church in Pledger [Matagorda County, Texas] with Rev. E. L. Bonner officiating.

Mr. O'Neal was born June 8, 1917, to the late Ella Matthews and Charlie O'Neal Sr. He made a confession to Christ at a very early age and was a devoted member of Union Baptist Church. Mr. O'Neal served as a member of the church choir, a member of the United Brotherhood Choir and was ordained as a deacon in September 1976 under leadership of Pastor A. L. Jones. Mr. O'Neal married the former Iola Jefferson on Dec. 23, 1937. She preceded him in death in April of 2002.

Survivors include their nine children and their spouses, Robert and Claudette, Ella Mae, Richard and Sharron, Beulah Mae and Robert, Jeffery and Delores, Shirley Ann and Curtis L., Rose Marie, Jessie Ray and Patricia and Johnnie Lee and Marva; foster daughter, Tiffany West; 14 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren, one foster granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.

Iola O'Neal

Funeral services for Iola O'Neal, 81, of Wharton, were held Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with Rev. C.C. Hayes officiating. Burial followed in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Mrs. O'Neal died April 29, 2002, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Pledger to Albert and Isabella Robins Jefferson. She was a lifetime resident of Wharton County and married Richard O'Neal Sr. on Dec. 23, 1937. Mrs. O'Neal worked as a caretaker at Richmond State
School. She was a member of The Order of the Easter Star and was Baptist by faith.

Survivors include husband Richard O'Neal Sr. of Wharton; daughters, Shirley O'Neal of Wharton, Ella Mae O'Neal of Corpus Christi, Beulah Bailey of Houston and Rose Nnoli of Houston; sons, Richard O'Neal Jr. of Wharton, Jeffery O'Neal of Houston, Jesse O'Neal of Houston, Robert O'Neal of
Houston and Johnnie O'Neal of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister, Ruby Williams of Corpus Christi; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Roland "Lightning" O'Neal, 60, of Pledger, are scheduled for 11 a. m. tomorrow at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. C. C. Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Green's Mortuary and from 10 to 11 a. m. tomorrow at Union Baptist Church.

Mr. O'Neal was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Texas to Charlie and Ella Mathis O'Neal and died June 21, 1994 at Avalon Place in Wharton.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ella and Glen Linsey of East Bernard; three brothers, Richard O'Neal of Densomore, Glen Williams of Pledger and Tyree O'Neal of New Gulf; four grandchildren, Ryan Earl O'Neal of Houston, Robert Durell and Glen Earl Linsey Jr. of East Bernard and Jennifer O'Neal of El Paso; a mother-in-law, Mamie Williams of Pledger; four sisters-in-law, Louise Watson of Freeport, Tiny Morant of Freeport, Ada Harris of Van Vleck, Mary Gordon of Wharton and Etta Piper of Houston and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are members of the family.

Honorary pallbearers are Richard O'Neal, Tyree O'Neal, Robert Durell O'Neal, Glen Linsey Sr., Glen Williams, Ryan Earl O'Neal and Glen Earl Linsey Jr.

Funeral services for Roland Earl O'Neal, 36, of Houston, will be 11 a. m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church, Pledger, with the Rev. A. C. Gardner officiating. Burial to follow at Union Baptist Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 7 to 9 p. m. today at Green's Mortuary and from 10 to 11 p. m. Saturday at the church.

Mr. O'Neal was born Nov. 22, 1953, in Pledger to Roland and Murlinda Williams O'Neal and died April 13, 1990, at St. Joseph Hospital, Houston.

He was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include a son, Ryan O'Neal of Houston; father Roland O'Neal Sr. of Pledger; a sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Glen Linsey of East Bernard; a brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Debbie O'Neal of North Carolina; a niece, Jennifer O'Neal of North Carolina and a nephew, Robert Durell Linsey of East Bernard; grandmother, Mammie Williams of Pledger, six aunts, Ada Harris of Van Vleck, Louise Watson and Tinny Morant, both of Freeport, Mary Gordon of Wharton, Etta Piper of Houston and Vera Laws of New Gulf; four uncles, Glen Williams of Pledger; Richard O'Neal of Densomore, Texas; Clifton Bogan of Boling; Tyree O'Neal of New Gulf; and several cousins and other relatives.

Pallbearers include Andrew Murray, Lloyd Murray, Dennis Jackson, Mark Williams, Edward Scott and Lynn Anthony Williams. Honorary pallbearers include Roland O'Neal Sr., Cecil O'Neal, Ryan O'Neal, Glen Linsey, Robert Durall Linsey and members of the 712 endoscopy department of St. Joseph's Hospital

Truvene Irene O'Neal

Truvene Irene O'Neal, 45, died at her Boling residence Dec. 27, 1982.

She was born on Sept. 17, 1937 in Arizona.

Survivors include husband, Tyree O'Neal; three daughters, Dana O'Neal of Wharton, Tanya Marie who is in the U. S. Army and Alana Gail of Boling; sons, Dale Edward of Houston, Howard Wayne of Pledger, Daryl Lloyd of Houston, and Thomas of Boling; mother, Novella Sims of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters, Vivian Turner, Elnora Caldwell and Geneva Williams, all of Phoenix; brother, James Elmer Griggs and three grandchildren, of Phoenix.

Rev. Larry Lewis will officiate the service which will be held at 1 p. m. on Dec. 31 at Union Baptist Church, Pledger, Texas.

Visitation hours are from 4 to 9 p. m. on Thursday at the funeral home chapel.

Tyree O'Neal

Tyree O'Neal

Tyree O'Neal was born Oct. 28, 1928 in New Gulf to the late Charlie O'Neal and Ella Matthews.

Tyree united in Holy Matrimony on June 27, 1954 to Truvene Irene O'Neal who preceded him in death. He served 22 years in the United States Air Force where he retired. Tyree worked for local 116 in Freeport and was a member of Union Baptist Church in Pledger where he joined at an early age.

He is survived by four boys, Dale Edward, Howard Wayne, Daryl Lloyd, and Thomas, also three daughters, Dana Hayes and Tanya O'Neal. One brother, Richard O'Neal Sr. of Densmore, 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives.

He is preceded in death by sisters Alana O'Neal Elliot, Vera Laws and Annie M. Jackson and brothers Rowland O'Neal, Lonnie O'Neal, Charlie O'Neal and Clifton Bogan.

Funeral Services will be Saturday May 10 at 11 a. m. at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with Rev. A. C. Gardner officiating, and Rev. C. C. Haynes as pastor. Interment will take place at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

The body will lie in state at the Church from 10 to 11 a. m. on Saturday. The family will receive friends at Green's Mortuary from 7 to 9 p. m. on Friday. The address of the Funeral Home is 2702 Ave. C Bay City, Texas 77414.

Pallbearers will be Richard O'Neal Jr., Ronnie Bess, Raymond Jackson, Jeffrey O'Neal, Robert O'Neal and Ernest Bogan.

Funeral Services for G. L. "Bud" Plummer, 70, of Pledger, will be held Saturday, May 6, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. Elzie Bonner, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Bud will lie in state at the church Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. Visitation will be Friday afternoon until 9 p.m. at Green's Mortuary.

Bud, the son of I. P. Plummer and Coren Monroe Plummer, was born March 3, 1930 in Pledger. He passed away Thursday, April 27, 2000 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton, Texas.

He is survived by: his wife, Linda Gayle Plummer of Houston; sons, Robbie Hilliard of Houston, Ray Plummer of Lake Jackson, and Kenyon Plummer of Houston; two daughters, Hedy L. Grice of West Columbia and Kianna Plummer of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Odessa Jean (Unice) Spradley of Pledger and Harriett (Charles) Brown of Houston; four brothers, Jimmie Weldon (Fannie) of Houston, Robert Lane (Melissa) Plummer, Ervin John (Linda) Plummer of Huntsville, Ala. and Ronnie Plummer of Huntsville, Ala.; brother-in-law, William Johnson of Pledger; sister-in-law, Betty Field Plummer of Cedar Lane; aunt Odessa Lee Plummer Davenport of Bay City; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his mother and father; stepmother, brother and sister.

Funeral services for Isom Peter Plummer (Toopee), 94, of Pledger, Tex. will be at 11 a. m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999 at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. Carl Sprawley and Pastor E. Bonner officiating.

Interment will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Deacon Plummer will lie in state from 10 - 11 a. m on Saturday morning.

Plummer died on Sept. 11, 1999 at his residence in Pledger. He was born December 24, 1904 in Pledger to General Lee Plummer and Leonia Wade.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Odessa Jean and Uncle Spradley of Pledger, Tex., Harriett Lanerne and Charles Brown of Houston; son-in-law, William Johnson, Sr. of Pledger; five sons and four daughters-in-law, G.
