About our Lunenburg County Website

Our website for Lunenburg County, VA, is dedicated to providing free historical information about Lunenburg County residents, homes, places and activities that may assist researchers who are interested in the history of the county.  We are a part of the VAGenWeb which hosts similar sites for all counties in Virginia.  The VAGenWeb is affiliated with the USGenWeb which hosts informational websites for all states in the United States.  The USGenWeb was developed for the purpose of providing free genealogical information to the public by collecting such information and records to help researchers.  This information is offered through the many websites similar to Lunenenburg County.

The USGenWeb has a mirror organization, the USGenWeb Archives which maintains a repository of "text" records for all states and corresponding counties in the United States.  The purpose of the Archives is to offer easy access to documents or records to researchers in a text format which can be downloaded for their personal use.  Each atate and county in the USGenWeb has a sister site associated with the USGenweb Archives such as Virginia Archives and Lunenburg County Archices for you to visit and find records in a text format.

Lunenburg County Courthouse

The Lunenburg County Courthouse maintains historical records for the county which are fairly complete.  The old records are held on microfilm that can slso be found at the Library of Virginia and the Virginia State Archives.
