VAUGHAN – RABB

Married, at the residence of Sam Kennedy, a few miles north of Bay City on Sunday, June 21, 1903, Miss Katie Rabb of La Grange, Texas, to Mr. W. H. Vaughan of Matagorda, Texas; Judge Matthews officiating.

Mr. Vaughan came here a few years ago from McLennan county where his family is quite prominent. He superintended the construction of the Bay City Irrigation Co.’s canal and was irrigation superintendent for the company last year. He is now irrigation superintendent for the Stewart Canal company. He is a young man of sterling character, great energy, fine judgment and first class executive ability.

We learn from persons who know that Miss Rabb is a daughter of one of the oldest and best families of Fayette county, and that she is herself endowed with womanly graces and charms that endeared her to her friends.

This marriage is a rather romantic culmination of a courtship that commenced nearly a year ago, when the bonny bride was visiting her friend, Mrs. Kenedy. When she recently came down for a second visit, the groom’s ardor would not brook any further postponement.

We tender our hearty congratulations and very best wishes.

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL
VETTE - FUNK

Cupid paid another visit to our town this week, and last night at the home of the bride Mr. George Vette and Mrs. Annie Funk were married, Rev. D. S. Burke officiating. The bride is a long time resident of Matagorda, and the happy groom was until recently a traveling clock repairer. When he reached Matagorda Cupid fixed his clock, and he lingered with delight and concluded to remain permanently. Mrs. Vettee has a host of warm friends who extend her and her husband congratulations and wish for them many years of happiness.
