Wife Divorces Ex-Congressman

When Mrs. Helen Virginia Andrews obtained a divorce the other evening from William Noble Andrews on grounds of failure to provide, it was the understanding that the evening court session was an accommodation to Andrews' counsel, who had been delayed in federal court at Carson. Today, however, it developed that secrecy was the object, and Andrews did not relish the publicity.

Andrews is a former member of the national house of representatives from the first Maryland district, a former state senator and former Dorchester county prosecutor. Through counsel he appeared in the action of his wife, but made no contest, and the only testimony offered by Mrs. Andrews was that her husband had faile to provide for her for a period of a year or more. Mrs. Andrews was given permission to resume her maiden name, Helen Virginia Philips.
