Tip Slusher, 84, of Martinsville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at the Brian Rehab Center in Eden, N.C. He was born in Floyd on June 14, 1928, to Samuel Slusher and Mettie Harmon Slusher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Bolt Slusher; six sisters, Dot Spradlin, Canary Snead, Edva Williams, Virginia Fitzgerald, Louise Anderson and Minerva Coffey; two brothers, J. C. Slusher and Homer Slusher; and one grandson. He retired from Bob Whites Chevyland as an auto mechanic. He was a member of Hill Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Janet S. Waddell of Martinsville; a son, Elvin L. Slusher Sr. of Pleasant Gardens, N.C.; a brother, Graydon Slusher of Middlebrook; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Collins Funeral Home in Bassett with the Rev. Bill Moss officiating. Burial will be in Patrick Memorial Gardens in Patrick County. The family will receive friends from noon until the service Saturday at funeral home, and other times at the home of his daughter, Janet Waddell, 1559 Spencer- Preston Road, Martinsville.
