In the name of God Amen I John Lunsford of the County of Northumberland being in health and of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same and knowing it is appointed once for all men Temporally to dye and knowing the uncertainty of Death do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills and Testaments &c heretofore be me made Item I give & bequeath all my worldly estate in the following manner which it hath pleased God to bless me with, after all my just debts and funeral expenses being first paid To wit I give and bequeath unto my nephew Griffin Copedge all my Land in Northumberland County which my father devised to me by his last Will and Testament to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my nephew Griffen Coppedge my negroe Boy B__ to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Niece Sharlotte Copedge my negro man Moses, to her and her heirs forever. to be the last Will and Testament of John Lunsford deceased was this
day offered for proof, and it appearing to the Court by the oath of Mosley
Nutt and Richard Lunsford that the same was wholly written by
the said John Lunsford the same is ordered to be recorded, Whereupon
on the motion of Richard Lunsford a Certificate is granted him for
obtaining Letters of Administration on the estate of the said John
Lunsford decd. with his said Will annexed in due form he having taken
the oath of an Administrator with the Will annexed, and together with Mosely
Nutt and John H. Tallen(?) his Securities entered into &
acknowledged a Bond in the penalty of six hundred pounds conditioned as the
Law directs.

In the Name of God Amen I Joseph Lunceford of Northumberland County and Parish of Great Wiccomoco being weak in body but of perfect sense and memory (thanks be to God for the same) And Calling to mind the mortallity of my body & knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do appoint, Constitute and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament & principally & first & first of all I Commit my soul to God, that gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like & decent manner at the discression of my Executors hereafter named & touching such worldly goods where with it hath pleased God to bless me with in my Lifetime I give and dispose in the following manner and form Imprimis I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Lunceford that Land he is now living upon and to his male hears (sic) Lawfully begotten of his body forever my will & desire is that he shall not Lease nor release bargain nor sell the aforesaid Land Item I give and bequeath to my son Tapply Lunceford the other half of my Land I now live upon to him & his male heres (sic) Lawfully begotten of his body forever my will & desire is that he shall not Lease nor release bargain nor sell the aforesaid Land my will and desires is if Joseph Lunceford dies without a male heir it shall fall to Ellis Lunceford to him & his male Heirs Lawfully begotten of his body forever my will and desire is if Tapply Lunceford dies without a male Heir his part of the Land shall fall to Elexander Lunceford to him & his male Heirs Lawfully begotten of his body forever if they all Deceas (sic) without a male heir Lawfully begotten of there (sic) body my will and desire is that Winifret Bennet Lunceford shall be heir to the whole hundred acres of Land to her and her heirs forever I give & bequeath to my son Shadrach Lunceford one shilling sterling to be paid by my Execr. Payne also I give the use of my sorrel Horse and one good feather Bed & furniture to my loving wife Elizabeth during her single life Item I give those Slaves which I formerly lent to my son Moses who now is deceased and their Increase to wit Daniel Minea Eleanor Milly Hannah and Alse and their future Increase to be equally divided amongst my said son Moses's Children to wit, William Augusten Sterling Seth Judeth and Moses and that they be possessed each with their parts as they severally arrive to the age of twenty one years or day of their Marriage and until then it is my will and desire that the said Slaves be kept together for the support of my said sons widow, If she remains a Widow and the aforesaid children nevertheless there shall be reserved out of the aforesaid Slaves at the division of them as aforesaid a Childs part for the use of the said Widow during her single life Item it is my Will and desire that my negro woman Lucy which I formerly lent to my said son Moses be sold & the Cash arising thereby be applied towards the payment of my said sons debts and those other Slaves which I formerly lent to my said son Moses to wit Moses and Judd I give them to the ___ that my said son did apply them it being my consent that that is to say towards purchasing a Tract of Land from Richard H. This last Will and Testament of Moses Lunsford deceased was proved by the Oaths of Moseley Nutt, David Palmer and Daniel Mosby (Mosley) the Witnesses thereto & ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of Henry Cundiff one of the Executors named in the said Will Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat thereof in due form he having taken the oath of an Exor. And together with Moseley Nutt Isaac Basye & Moses Sutten his Securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of two thousand pounds Conditioned as the Law directs Liberty being reserved to the other Exor. named in the said Will to join in the probat thereof when he shall think fit.

I give unto my son John R. Lunsford to him and to his heirs forever, one negro boy named Lewis. I give unto my son David A. Lunsford to him and his heirs forever one negro boy named Adam. I give and bequeath unto my wife Celia Lunsford both of my plantations lying in the County of Dinwiddie, one adjoining the lands of Samuel ________, Richard J. Butterworth, William Roberts and on the stage road; the other being the same I purchased of William F. Barner, adjoining the lands of A. Thrweat, A. Jolley, John Davis and _________________ the above plantations I give unto my wife to sell or to hold as she may think proper. I also give unto my wife Celia Lunsford Six Hundred dollars in cash to her forever. Should there be any part of my Estate which I have not named in this my last Will I now give such part unto my wife Celia Lunsford and to her forever. I now nominate and appoint my wife Celia Lunsford Executrix to this my Last Will and Testament, without giving any security. I now acknowledge this to be my last Will and Testament revoking all other wills. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this the 8th day of February, 1848.
