Herman J. Landry - PALACIOS

PALACIOS - Herman Joseph Landry, 84, of Palacios, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005.

He was born April 27, 1921, in Abbeville, La., to the late Anitus and Anita Ledet Landry. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors: son, Don Landry of Palacios; sisters, Dot Nelson of Brazoria and Joyce Hargraves of Arkansas; brothers, Norman Landry of Freeport and Earl Landry of Jones Creek; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: wife, Halon Landry.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. tonight at Palacios Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing, the Rev. Sam Appiasi officiating.

LAWSON, EVERETT

Everett "Ezz" Donald Lawson, 75, of Markham died June 27, 2004 at Matagorda General Hospital.

He was born November 6, 1928 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late John Boyd and Eva Samantha Massey Lawson. Ezz was a resident of Markham since September, 2003 and a former resident of Bay City and a former longtime resident of the Arlington/Fort Worth area. He also was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include: his wife, Gayle Lawson of Markham; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Bill Booker of Everett, Washington, Eva and Butch Kientz of Blessing, Texas, and Ginny and Ronnie Douvia of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Melody Lawson of Everett, Washington, and Donald and Pat Lawson of Burleson, Texas; sisters, Emogene "Jane" Little of Weatherford, Texas, and Lenny Ansley of Seattle, Washington; brother, Eugene "Gene" Lawson of Seattle, Washington; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Sibby Isabell; and brothers, George and Jimmy Lawson.

Graveside funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004, at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing under the auspices of Phillip H. Parker VFW Post 2438. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post 2438, P.O. Box 269, Bay City, or the American Cancer Society.

LAWSON, G. G., JR.

G. G. "Bub" Lawson, Jr., 85, of Palacios died August 10, 2001 at DeTar Hospital in Victoria.

He was born September 4, 1915 in Floresville, Texas to the late Grover Gem and Esma Crisler Schley Lawson, Sr.

Mr. Lawson was a lifelong resident of Palacios, a member of the American Legion and was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. He owned and operated a radio/TV repair shop in Palacios for many years.

Survivors include: sister-in-law, Frances Lawson of Palacios; nephew, Carl Raymond Lawson of San Antonio; and niece, Helen Lawson of Bay City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Amy Lawson, on March 14, 1978 and by his brother, Henry J. Lawson.

A funeral service was at 11 a.m. Monday, August 13 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Parker officiating. Interment followed at the Palacios Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Gene Allen, Billy Morton, Howard Mozley, Vic Kahlick, Norman Brotemarkle and Woody Wilson.

LEE, CHARLES BURTON "C. B."

Funeral services for Charles Burton "C.B." Lee, 75, of Wadsworth will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 10, 2000 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Haskell and J. D. O'Donald officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Visitaion with family will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Lee died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000 at his residence in Wadsworth. He was born Oct. 15, 1924 to William Daniel and Fannie ELizabeth Helton Lee.

He was a 48-year member of Matagorda Masonic Lodge No. 7, 43-year member of Carpenters Local No. 1084, and a veteran of WWII serving in the army in the Pacific. He also was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: devoted wife of 49 years, Jeannette Lee of Wadsworth; son Robert Kay Miles; sons and daughters-in-law, William Albert and Martha Lee of Moulton, Texas and Charles Daniel and Claudia Lee of Milton, Fla; daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa Ann and Andy Kocurek of Van Vleck and Jerry and Gary Dury of New Deal, Texas; brother, Edward Lee of Wadsworth and Bryan Lee of Jewett, Texas; sister, Florence Bell of Van Vleck and Viola Mae Brietzke of Bay City; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Happy and John Henry Lee; sister, Gladys Averitt; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Miles; and grandson, Joshua Baranowski.

Pallbearers will include: Michael Helton, Gregg Owen, Carl Ray Lee, Joe Stewart, and Brian White.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.

ALBERT LANE LEGG

Aug. 8, 1927 — Feb. 13, 2006

Albert Lane Legg, 78, of Sweeny, Texas, left this world on Monday, February 13, 2006, to be with his Heavenly Father.

Albert was born on August 8, 1927, in Bay City, Texas.

He was the third of seven children born to the late Richard Hubert and Carrie Ethel Lowe Legg.

He grew up in Bay City and graduated from Bay City High School in 1945. Shortly after, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and received his Honorable Discharge July, 1947.

He was baptized at the age of seven in the First Baptist Church of Bay City, where he maintained his membership.

He was employed by Phillips Petrochemical Refinery in Sweeny, Texas for 37 years, retiring on January 1, 1990.

His most passionate hobby was his carpentry work, which earned him side jobs.

Albert was very proud of his grandchildren, and loved them all dearly. He was much loved as a husband, father and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all.

Survivors include: his beloved wife of 44 years, Barbara Turner Legg; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Legg Wooten of Venus, Texas, and Melissa and Mark Rehak of Clear Lake, Texas; son, Brian Mark Legg of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Neva Myers Kelch of Amarillo, Texas, Norma McDonald and husband Gene, Margie Quinn and husband Rex, and Billie Suffling, all of Bay City, Texas; brother, Luster Legg of Mexia, Texas; nine grandchildren, Crystal Green and Terry Hodge of Venus, Texas, Sean, Mark, Tyler and Nicole Legg of Houston, and Brentley, Tristan and Shaela Rehak of Clear Lake, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Marshall and Isiah of Venus, Texas; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his oldest brother, Richard Byron Legg, who was killed in World War II; a daughter, Karen Lynn Legg; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Brianne Rehak; and two brothers-in-law, John Myers and Richard Suffling.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 16, 2006, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating.

Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck, Texas.

Pallbearers were Terry Gibson, Sean Legg, Terry Hodge, Jimmy Turner, Brent Rehak and Mark Legg.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

LEHMANN, LEON EUGENE

BAY CITY - Leon Eugene Lehmann, 77, of Bay City, died Sunday, July 6, 2003.

He was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Deanville, to the late Albert and Ozella Helwig Lehmann. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He was a member of VFW Post 2438 and a retired parts manager for Bay City Auto and Sales. He was a Lutheran.

Survivors: wife, Irene Ashcraft Lehmann; and brother, Edward Lehmann of Wichita Falls.

Preceded in death by: stepdaughter, Sandy Mulligan; and parents.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel, the Rev. Sam Starks officiating.

LEWIS, LEE ROY

Lee Roy “Bubba” Lewis, 74, of Sinton, Texas, died April 7, 2005, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He was born on April 11, 1930 in Bay City, Texas, to the late Henry Byrice and Ira Bruce Lewis.

He was a former longtime resident of Ashwood, and for the past 10 years, he resided in Sinton, Texas with his sister, Jessie Lee Kay. He also was an oil-field construction worker for many years and served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 29, 1954 to Dec. 11, 1956.

Survivors include: sisters, Mary Fanson and her husband George of Wadsworth, Texas, and Jessie Kay and her husband Bill of Sinton, Texas.

He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and his special little companion, Julian Hunter Kay.

Lee Roy was truly a special man; one who touched many lives. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck, Texas.

LINDAMOOD, RALPH L.

Ralph L. Lindamood, 80, of Bay City, passed away January 1, 2003 in Houston, Texas.

He was born May 23, 1922 in Norfolk, Virginia to Ralph L. Lindamood, Sr. and Irma Woodhouse Lindamood.

He was a resident of Bay City for the past 30 years, a member of the Bay City Nature Club and Friends of the Library.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a pilot Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corp.

He is survived by: wife, Frances Lindamood of Bay City; daughters, Nina Arnold and husband Benny of Bay City and Caryl Lindamood and husband Buddy Toyama of Hawaii; sons, Steve Lindamood of Georgia, Mike Lindamood and wife Teresa of Missouri City and Todd Lindamood of New York; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Mason Lindamood and by a granddaughter, Kelly Lindamood.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roy Biser officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

LINTON, NATHAN D.

Funeral services for Nathan D. Linton, 86, (CFGC Retired US Navy) will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Shan Jackson officiating. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery near Blessing.

Mr. Linton was born June 23, 1918 to Willie L. Linton and Addie Joines Linton at LaWard, TX. He went to Eternal Rest on March 27, 2005.

Nathan’s faith in the Lord never left him even though he suffered greatly. He was added to the Church of Christ at an early age and was a member of the Church of Christ of Mart, TX.

He was a former member of the Palacios Church of Christ. He married Edith Elsie Clapp on May 31, 1939.

Nathan was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served aboard the U.S.S. Chester in the Pacific, all during World War II. He participated in many battles and bombardments while aboard the U.S.S. Chester. He served aboard U.S.S. Princeton during the Korean War. He received many medals for his service on the U.S.S. Chester and the U.S.S. Princeton. Later, he served aboard the U.S.S. Chemong and the U.S.S. John R. Craig. He taught school at Treasure Island, CA and at the Receiving Station at Washington, DC. He retired after almost 21 years in the US Navy and remained in the Inactive Reserve for almost 10 years.

After retiring from the navy, he attended college at Southwest Texas University at San Marcos. He obtained a B.S. degree in Math and English and later a M.S. degree in Administration and Math. He also attended college at the University of Houston, in Math on a stipend. He taught Math at Palacios High School, Blinn College, Calhoun High School at Port Lavaca and Palacios Jr. High. After retiring from teaching , he and his wife, Edith, bought land at Elk, TX; had a house built; established a small ranch and raised Hereford cattle. He enjoyed ranch life until his health failed. Cancer took his life.

Nathan is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Edith Linton; by his children: Gerald W. Linton and wife Beverly of Elk, Ronald A. Linton of Elk, and Sandra Linton Dullnig and husband Robert of Garland; by his grandchildren: Krystal Liske and husband Don of Killeen, Kimberlay Pavlik and husband John of Fort Carson, CO, Ronald A. Linton, Jr. of Houston, Melissa Linton Janda and husband Martin of Houston, Robby Dullnig of Sherman, and Nathan Dullnig of Garland; and by his great grandchildren: Daryelle Curtis of Elk, Christopher and Kevin Richards of Fort Carson, CO and Corbin Linton of Houston. He is also survived by his brothers: Cecil Linton and wife Jean of Needham, MA and Robert Linton and wife Margaret of Kingsville; and his sisters: Thelma Young of Hallsville and Flossie Puckett of Beeville.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers : R. V. and K. C. Linton; his sister: Erie Niesius; his grandson: Gerald Morgan Linton; his granddaughter, Jimmie Edith Linton; and his great-grandson: James Richards.

LLANES, DOMINGO "MINGO" GARZA

Funeral services for Domingo “Mingo” Garza Llanes, 62, of Palacios were held Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church. The Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiated, followed by interment, with military honors under the auspices of Queen-Hamlin VFW Post 2467, at Palacios Cemetery.

Mr. Llanes died Friday, Sept. 13. A native of Palacios, he was born Feb. 25, 1940 to Feliciana Garza Llanes and the late George Llanes. He was a Catholic, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a fisherman.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Celia Naranjo Llanes of Palacios; two daughters, Dagmar Iris Lozano of San Antonio and Sallie Llanes of Palacios; two sons, George Llanes and Adrian Llanes, both of Palacios; two sisters, Gloria Garcia of Alvin and Jody Cedillo of New Braunfels; three brothers, George Llanes of Los Angeles, Calif., Gilbert Llanes of Houston and David Llanes of Alvin; and 16 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Vernon Bates, Sr., Wayne “Red” Holgraff, Adrian Llanes, Daniel Ray Rivas, Daniel Rivas and Arthur “Hoppy” Garcia. Honorary pallbearers were David Llanes Jr., George Llanes Jr., Richard Cedillo Jr., Jesse Perez, David Llanes Sr. and Gilbert Llanes.

LLANES, TIMOTHY "TIM" MARJOLEJO, SR.

Funeral services for Timothy “Tim” Marmolejo Llanes, Sr., 61, of Palacios were held May 31, 2003 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating.

Burial, with military honors under the auspices of VFW Post 2467, was at Palacios Cemetery.

A native of Palacios, he was born Dec. 19, 1941 to the late Cosme and Ana Marmolejo Llanes. He died May 26, 2003.

Mr. Llanes was a Vietnam era veteran, serving as a private first class in the U.S. Army, earning commendations for marksmanship.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Ann Guidroz Llanes; daughters Erica Frances Llanes of Crystal Beach, Tx., Elva Ayala, Rebecca Romero and Veronica DeLos Santos, all of Galveston, Sonia Morales of Texas City and Blanca DeLos Santos of Waco; sons, Timothy Llanes, Jr. of Crystal Beach, Tx., Ernesto DeLos Santos and Roman DeLos Santos, both of Galveston; sisters, Mary L. Flores of Palacios and Grace Morales of Rockdale, Tx.; brother Demetrio Llanes, Sr. of Palacios, Lawrence Llanes of Hobbs, N.M., and Canuto Llanes of Flour Bluff, Tx.; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers George Llanes and Fabian DeLos Santos; and grandson, Ernesto DeLos Santos, Jr.

LOFF, ROBERT "BOB" VICTOR

Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Victor Loff, 98, of Palacios, were held March 15, 2005 at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Wells officiating. Interment was at Palacios Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 20, 1906, in Kandiyohi Co., Minn., to the late Andrew and Hulda Johnson Loff. He died March 13, 2005.

Mr. Loff was a resident of Schicke Point since the early 1950s and was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and U.S. Army Air Corps and a member of Cecil Lee American Legion Post No. 649 of Blessing. He owned and operated Bob's Bait Camp at Schicke Point for more than 20 years, and was a Methodist.

He is survived by his sister, Else Loff Olson of Schicke Point and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: sisters, Helen Frankson, Edith Frankson, and Minnie Irwin; brothers, Walter, Darwin, Matt and Arvid Loff; and nephew Wilburn Frankson.

Henry Loose, 62, of Markham, Texas, died January 25, 2006, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He was born March 18, 1943, in Matagorda County, Texas, to the late Marcell and Annie Georgia Janise Loose.

Mr. Loose was a member of the Catholic Church of Bay City, and a resident of Markham since 1973.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 until 1964, and retired in 1997 as a plant operator for Dow Chemical Co. with 28 years of service.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jeff Nemec of Markham; sister, Letha Mae Bailey of Bay City; brother, Walter Loose of Angleton; and three grandchildren, Dustin, Dylan and Derek Nemec, all of Markham.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Loose, in October 2000.

The rosary was held at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2006, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home and the funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating.

Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were J.B. Frieley, Ram Menardo, Wayne Anderson, Manuel Anzaldua, Harry “Bubba” Janise and Benito Trevino.

Joe Lozano, 53, of Bay City died August 3, in Matagorda General Hospital. Survivors include: sons, Ruben, Pete and Jessie all of Bay City; daughters, Mrs. Inez Barron, Lane City and Mrs. Josephine Rodriguez of Bay City; brothers, Paul and Carmel Lozano of Bay City, and Ramon Ramirez of Markham; sisters, Ziola Lozano, Maria Louisa Rodriguez of Markham, Caelletana Guanajuato and Delores Perez of Bay City; nine grandchildren. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 2438, American Legion, G. I. Forum, Knights of Columbus 1457506, International Federation of Amateur Softball Association, Southwest Baseball Umpires Association, an Usher of Our Lady of Guadalupe, an umpire for interfaith league. Lozano also coached and managed little league and worked with boy scout troops 999 and 226. Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Monday August 4 at 4 p.m. with Father J. B. Shannon officiating. Interment will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers are W. A. Robertson, Tony Buitron, Lucio Mejorado, Bert L. Head, Ellis Austin, Richard E. Jones and George Smith. Services under the direction of Dick R. Elkins Bay City Funeral Home.

LUNA, FLOYD

BAY CITY - Floyd Luna, 84, of Bay City, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004.

He was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Trenton, Fannin County, to the late Walter Arzo and Mary Anna Cummings Luna. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a retired operations supervisor for Amoco with 39 years of service and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors: wife, Juanita Luna; daughter, Saundra Faye Slone of Austin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: daughter, Gloria Crain; son, Floyd Luna Jr; sisters, Minnie Vaughn, Robbie McNamer, Ruby Luna, and Martha Bosnich; and brothers, Gene Luna, Melvin Luna, Joe Luna, Jack Luna, and James Luna.

Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.

LYNCH, JOHN THOMAS

John Thomas Lynch, 82, of Bay City, passed away Friday, May 19, 2000 at The Legacy. He was born March 20, 1918 in Crockett, Texas to John Thomas Lynch, Sr., and Nancy Blue Lynch.

He was a resident of Bay City since 1948, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, retired as a Gager from Getty Oil after 27 years of service, was a Past Worshipful Master and and 50 year member of Masonic Lodge No. 865, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star and a World War II veteran of the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by: his wife, Alma Miller Lynch of Bay City; a daughter, Nancy Schraub of Katy; and by his grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Schraub of Katy.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; four sisters; and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2000 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Crowe and the Rev. Pauline Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Members of the Wesley Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Bay City.

Clair William Lynn, 81, of Palacios, Texas died Monday, July 2, 2001. He was born November 21, 1919 in Mason City, Ill. to the late Addison Clair and Gladys Riggins Lynn.

He is survived by his wife; Margaret Lynn of Palacios; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Larry Krup of Peoria, Ill., Elizabeth Lynn and Edward Brown of Houston, Laura Jeanne Van Riper of Peoria, Peggy Pitman and her family; son Clair William and his wife Karen of Jasper, Ill.; sisters, Mary Lou Fehrenhocker, Anna Mae Held and Linda Louise McDaniel; brothers, Walter I. Lynn, Robert R. Lynn, Richard S. Lynn, Kenneth Lynn, and James E. Lynn; three grandchildren, Christopher W. Lynn, Jonothan D. Lynn, and Jennifer Elizabeth Lynn.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jack Cates Lynn and Logan Lynn.

Lynn was a long time farmer, a veteran of WWII, a member of the Elks, American Legion, palacios Lions Club, N.R.A. and an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church.

Funeral serivce will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5 at the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios, with the Revs. Andy and Janell Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Palacios Cemetery.

The family was to receive visitors from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. Wednesday at Palacios Funeral Home.

Pallbearers, Jim Hampton, Harlin Flower, Earl Scheley, John Tolner, Bob Christiansen, Jack Waeckter, Terry Mosier, and Royce Harvey.

The family has requested that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church Landscaping Fund or the Legacy Foundation.

Arrangements are with Palacios Funeral Home.
