Charles Edward Mangum

Funeral services for the Rev. Charles Edward Mangum, 59, of Bay City, will be held at noon on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. Ruben Newell, eulogist. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the funeral home chapel, and from 7 until 9 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church with memorial services.

He was born in Van Vleck, Texas, March 28, 1947, to Isedoll Mangum, Sr. and Pearl Sauceda Mangum, and passed away July 28, 2006, in Bay City, Texas.

Survivors include: his wife, Sheryl; one daughter, Kercheva Williams and Mark of Houston; four sons, Rondray Brown and Tracy of Cedar Lake, Michael and Margwyn Miller, and Kelvin Mangum, all of Bay City. Also two sisters, Mona Lisa Diggs and Leonard of Buda, Texas, and Vanessa Mangum of Van Vleck; and two brothers, Arnold Mangum and Velma of Van Vleck, and Robert Mangum and Mary of Cedar Lane. Also two aunts, Elizabeth Scurry and Sara Mangum; four sisters-in-law, Linda Miller, Cecelia Allen, Vivian Mims and Lisa Hayes, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Gladys Mangum, 78, of Hitchcock will be held 2 p. m. Wednesday at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. Ruben Newell officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Visitation hours will be held until 9 p. m. today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel. Mrs. Mangum was born April 2, 1913, in Runge and died July 19, 1991 in her home.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Mangum Jr. of Hitchcock; four sisters-in-law, Leona Mangum of Hitchcock, Pearl Mangum of Van Vleck, Elizabeth Scurry and Sarah Mangum of Bay City; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are James Williams, Curtis Williams, L. C. Merchant, Ray Mangum, Kevin Mangum and Richard Mangum.

Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Galilee Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Henry Mangum Jr., 79 of Bay City, are scheduled for 2 p. m. Saturday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Van Vleck with the Rev. Ruben Newell officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and from 1 to 2 p. m. Saturday at St. John Church.

Mr. Mangum was born July 12, 1914, in Van Vleck, to Henry and Floretta Jones Mangum Sr. and died Jan. 9, 1994, at his residence.

A former resident of Hitchcock Community, he was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Scurry of Bay City; a devoted niece, Lottie Mayberry of Bay City; three sisters-in-law, Leona Mangum of Hitchcock, Pearl Mangum of Van Vleck and Sarah Mangum of Bay City; 10 nieces, 13 nephews and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Floretta Jones Mangum, his wife, Gladys Scofield Mangum, and seven sisters and brothers.

Pallbearers are L. C. Merchant, Kevin Mangum, Sterling Mangum, Richard Mangum, Donald Ray Mangum and Arnold Ray Mangum Sr.

Honorary pallbearers are the great-nephews.

Funeral services for Pearl Sauceda Mangum, 81, of Van Vleck, will be held Saturday, February 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck, with the Rev. Ruben Newell, eulogist. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck.

She was born in Matagorda County, Texas, Saturday, September 13, 1919, to Mack Sauceda and Margie Brinkley Sauceda, and passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the home of her daughter, Monalisa Diggs.

Survivors include: two daughters, Monalisa Diggs and Leonard of Budah, Texaas, and Vanessa Mangum of Richwood; three sons, Charles Edward Mangum and Cheryl of Bay City, Arnold Ray Mangum and Velma of Van Vleck, and Robert Mangum of Sweeny; one sister Dorothy Sauceda Taylor of San Francison, California; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Scurry and Sarah Mangum, both of Bay City, and two aunts, Martha Sauceda Johnston of San Francisco, California and Claudia Sauceda of Bay City; also 27 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Tellis Lakeith Mangum, Tourland Ray Mangum, Trent Deshawn Mangum, Rondray Brown, Charlton Mangum, Isedoll Mangum, Leonard Diggs, Jr. and Jimmie Canales, Jr.

Lottie Mayberry, 85, of Bay City, Texas, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2021 in Bay City, Texas.

Sterline Leonard Mangum

Funeral services for Sterline Leonard Mangum, 55, of Bay City, will be held Saturday, January 6, 2001, at 11 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church in Van Vleck, with the Rev. Ruben Newell eulogist. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Van Vleck.

He was born in Wadsworth Wednesday, October 24, 1945, to Isedoll Mangum and Pearl Sauceda Mangum, and passed away Monday, January 1, 2001, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. He was a graduate of O. H. Herman High School in Van Vleck, and a serviceman in the United States Air Force.

Survivors include: three daughters, Annette Mangum and Roshall Frank and James all of Houston, and LaShawntre Hawkins of Shreveport, La.; two sons, Charlton Mangum of Houston, and Nevin Mangum of Dallas; mother, Pearl Sauceda Mangum of Van Vleck: sisters, Monalisa Biggs and Leonard of Budah, and Vanessa Mangum of Richwood; brothers, Arnold Ray Mangum and Velma of Van Vleck, Charles Mangum and Cheryl of Bay City, Robert Mangum of Sweeny; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Active pallbearers will be Tellis LaKeith Mangum, Tourland Ray Mangum, Isadoll Mangum, Kelvin Mangum and Jimmy Canales, Jr., Ka'Lon Biggs. Sons and brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Funeral services for Addie L. McNiel, of Bay City, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2003, at St. John Baptist Church, Van Vleck, with the Rev. Ruben Newell, eulogist.

Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

She was born on October 27, 1915 in Van Vleck, to Cornelius and Amy Hayes, and passed away December 10, 2003, in Bay City.

Survivors include: two sons, R.A. (Dorothy) Wiley of Bay City, Floyd Wiley of Bay City and her daughter-in-law, Wanda Flagg of Bay City; one sister, Althea Franklin of Van Vleck; one niece, Amy Coulter of Van Vleck; and one nephew, C.H. Singletary of Van Vleck; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grands; and 26 great-great-grands.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie McNeil, and one son, Horace Davis.
