CALDWELL COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The body of a San Marcos River tuber that had not been seen since late Saturday has been recovered.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Joann Garza-Mayberry, the body of 20-year-old Tychicus Foston was recovered just after 1:30 p.m. Sunday, teams had been actively searching since Saturday evening.

Crews focused their search in the area surrounding Martindale.

Texas Parks and Wildlife requested that tubing companies not let anyone on the river while teams searched. Tubers were allowed to start getting back on the river around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

“(What went through my head is) concern for the individual, concern for their family,” said the owner of the tubing portion of Don’s Fish Camp, near the search site, Craig Coleman. “Obviously, when anybody’s missing, it’s never a good thing. And we’ve been really worried about them.”

Garza-Mayberry says boat with side scan sonar and divers helped with the search efforts.

She tell us friends saw the man go under the water and never resurface. Investigators do not yet know all the details of what happened.

Investigators say an autopsy will determine what caused the death. Still, the death appeared to be a drowning.
