TAKES NAME-The Newport Post of the American Legion of Honor will bear the name of James Wallace Costigan No 11. This tribute was paid to the memory of Costigan because he was the first man to enlist from Newport at the outbreak of the war and he was the first to give his life in service of his country. He was fatally wounded at the Battle of Belleau Woods, June 6, 1918, while fighting with the Marines. His family lives at 415 E Fourth st.
Officers chosen were; Elmer T Gray, commander; Mike Maloney, vice commander; Peter Buchert, adjutant; Harry Venard, financial officer; Sam Bailey, historian; Paul Maurer, master at arms. The Post has a membership of 200 war veterans

VETERANS-The members of the Wallace G Costigan Post No 11 American Legion met Friday night in Newport and elected an Executive Committee, consisting of Dr. Shaler Berry, Dr. William Krieger, William L Glazier, Joseph Martin and Ns Kilpatrick. The following new members were admitted:

ELECTED-James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion, met Monday night and elected a Board of Trustees to take the place of the old Executive Committee which was done away with several weeks ago. Trustees are Taylor Anstead, Conrad Matz and Eugene Daly. Members of the post were addressed by Dr. W W Anderson, who served as major in the Medical Corps of the American Army during the late war. Dr. Anderson told of his experience in the army.

SERVICES-Elmer T Gray, commander of James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion, has completed arrangements for Memorial Day services to be held at Evergreen Cemetery on May 31. The Memorial Day service promises to be the biggest affair of its kind ever held in this community. Commander Gray issued the following statement Thursday:
"It is recommended that the former service men wear their uniforms, as it was the intention of the United States Government when they gave each service men a uniform at the time of his discharge, that he would wear it on Memorial Day as a memorial to those who died in service."

FORMED-A firing squad and drill team designed to take part in various official activities of the American Legion in Northern Kentucky has been organized by James Wallace Costigan Post it was announced by Charles Ciarlo. W P Powers, retired army sergeant and member of the Post has been named instructor. Uniforms will be procured and drill exercises will be held at the armory each Monday night.
Members of the post also are going to organize a band. Likely members of the drill team are: William Raabe, William Horn, John Murtha, Harry Vernard, Michael Barton, Tobias Benke, E S Dorne, Lambert Hehl, Preston Thompson, Lawrence Hewlings, Thomas Velkley, L P Hummel, Edward Krebs and Peter McWilliams.

POOR-Michael Maloney, commander of the James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion, announced Monday the opening of a headquarters at 31 E Sixth st. Newport, where the relief committee of the post will receive contributions from citizens for the needy. Royal Randlett, chairman of the relief committee is in charge of the headquarters.
