BRYAN, KEIL, MEADE, SILL, WILLIAMS posted by Tia K Hunt on Thursday, January 6, 2000

My ggGrandmother Adeline Henrietta Elizabeth MEADE b.7/11/1866, Ziegnitz, Germany, d.7/30/1938, buried Cosmopolis, Washington m.Karl August KEIL 5/4/1887 Wrightstown, Wisconsin. John MEADE, Augusta SILL MEADE and Adeline "entered the USA July 8, 1885." The above is listed in the KEIL family bible (My father believes they arrived in New York). Family stories state Karl August KEIL stowed away on a ship, then worked for his passage to the USA. This is not confirmed. He was born 3/5/1857, Breslau, Germany per the family bible and died 11/10/1917, buried at Cosmopolis, Washington. Karl & Adeline's children were: *Clara Bertha Augusta KEIL (1)BRYAN (2)WILLIAMS b.4/11/1890 Genesse, ID *my gGrandmother Harry Gottlief KEIL b.9/21/1891, North River, Washington Carl Herrmann KEIL b.6/28/1894, North River, Washington Wilhelm Frederick KEIL b.2/5/1897, North River, Washington Lena Gay Elizabeth KEIL b.4/18/1901 North River, Washington There is no information regarding whether Adeline's parents, John MEADE b.1835, d.1895 and Augusta SILL MEADE b.3/10/1840,Germany d.7/12/1924 buried Cosmopolis, Washington had any other children or not. Also, I have reason to believe John & Augusta MEADE may have stayed in Wisconsin until approximately 1893-1894 before moving to Washington. A family photo recently came into my possession of a man seated, woman standing, and two children seated on pedestals. This was done at a studio "Donner", South Kaukauna, Wisconsin. It is my belief that the KEIL family may have been visiting Adeline's parents who may still have lived in Wisconsin. Does anyone know anything about the MEADE family?

FINK, FINKENFLUGEL, VINKENVLEUGEL posted by Jean V. Reese on Thursday, January 6, 2000

My great great grandfather and family moved to Wrightstown, WI. in about 1853. His technical name was VINKENVLEUGEL but in most documents that I have seen after arriving in the states the name had been changed from Hermannus Vinkenvleugel to Herman FINKENFLUGEL or Herman FINK. I have a letter that was mailed back to the Netherlands in 1885 and he was still giving his address a Wrightstown and stated that he was with his third wife. I have a complete list of wife number 3 and their 8 children, but I have no indication of what happened to wife numberone whose name was Hendrina nor do I know anything of the second wife. Do you have access to records that may reflect the death of Hendrina or of the marriage and family of wife number 2. Any assistance that you can give me will be greatly appreciated. He states in the letter that his son Stephen or Henrique was killed in the war and that he got an eight dollar month pension on him. I would appreciate knowing if you can even locate one of the various names.

Trying to find out who the parents of William are, when he came to America and from what part of Prussia. And what happened to the family after this census was taken.

DEBYL, JANSSEN, JURGENS, VAN HERPEN posted by Don Jurgens on Thursday, February 10, 2000

I am interested in any and all information on any JURGENS, DEBYL, JANSSEN, or VAN_HERPEN families in Brown County. Specifically I know there was an Arnoldus JURGENS who arrived about 1872 and left around 1879. He supposedly arrived with his wife and family from The Netherlands and they died very shortly thereafter, but I have never found proof of their existence what-so-ever. He married Ida VAN_HERPEN in 1873 and had two children, George and Hubert, before moving to South Dakota. Ida died around 1891 and Arnoldus returned to Brown County and married a widow Elizabeth (DEBYL) JANSSEN in 1893. From what I have found, all these people lived in West DePere.

O MARA posted by Dan O'Mara on Friday, February 25, 2000

I have been working on the O’MARA Family Tree off and on for ten years. I believe my family was in Wisconsin for at least 12 years. Many of the children were born there. (JF O'Mara was reportedly born in Fond du Lac 08/14/1861) They also apparently lived in Brown Co. The wife of William died and is buried in Brown Co. The 1880 Nebraska census records for Dawson County (Wood River Township) show the following two families. I believe William and Thomas were brothers, and there may have been a sister Ann.. John F. was my GGFather. O’Mara Thomas head Born: 1838, Ireland wife: Margaret born:1838, Ireland son John F.,born:1861 Wisconsin, Fond du Lac; son Edward, born:1864, Wisconsin; daughter Margaret, born:1866, Wisconsin; son William born:1869, Wisconsin; daughter Elizabeth born:1871, Wisconsin; son Thomas born:1874, Wisconsin; son James born:1877, Nebraska; duaghter Sarah born:1879, Nebraska O’Mara William head born:1845 Ireland; Wife Rosanne (Kennedy) died in Wisc. 1875; daughter Elizabeth A., born:1865, Wisconsin; daughter Rose C., born:1870, Wisconsin; daughter Julia, born:1873, Wisconsin; son John born:1874, Wisconsin. We have tried to verify the Wisconsin birth records for JF O’Mara (and others) - so we can then verify information of Thomas, Margaret, & William back into the Irish records – without success. I "desperately" need additional information that will allow me to verify the family's Wisconsin years, and more importantly passage and naturalization information that will connect me to Irish records. If you have ANY bits of information or suggestions of how to get the information that might help us we would be very grateful.
