ABNEY, BELL, OBNEY posted by Gina Shutt on Tuesday, May 13, 1997

Can anyone tell me who the parents of John Calvin OBNEY / ABNEY are? Census records show his place of birth as Ohio. His wife was Alice Curdelia BELL. I have the probate records on him from Jefferson Co., listing his place of death as Brilliant, Jefferson Co., OH on 7 Feb., 1918. Unfortunately, none of the local, county or state agencies have a death certificate on record that would give the parents name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

MCLAIN, PARAMORE posted by Anna L. Martin on Wednesday, May 14, 1997

PARAMORE / MCLAIN family of Jefferson Co. Ohio. The Paramore family moved from Maryland to Ohio in the 1780's. Nathaniel PARAMORE died in Jefferson Co. in 1807. His will listed a son Thomas who I believe was my G.G.G. Grandfather. Nathaniel's wife was Rhoda, surname unknown. Thomas married Mary McLAIN in Jefferson Co. Ohio in 1808. They later moved to Indiana stopping in Kentucky for a few years along the way. Thomas and Mary both died in Decatur Co. Indiana. In the 1850 census of Decatur Co. IN Mary's mother, also named Mary, was living in the Thomas PARAMORE household. She was listed as 90 Yrs. old and born in Holland. The younger Mary was born in Rowan Co. NC in 1791. This was listed in the PARAMORE family bible. I have lots of information on the PARAMORE family which I would be willing to share. Any information about the McLAIN family would be appreciated.
